Happy New Year and welcome back! We’re kicking off the year by sharing ways to bring the UC San Diego brand to life in your day-to-day work. This month’s issue includes a reminder to use official logos to build trust and credibility, a look at how the Division of Extended Studies is applying the brand through its Dare. Dream. Do. campaign, and an introduction to TritonGPT, our campus-based AI assistant, along with the new marketing toolkit to help you share it.
You’ll also find fresh campus stationery with four new business card options and updated letterhead templates, plus Google templates that make it easy to create brand-compliant materials.

When it comes to logos at UC San Diego, clarity and consistency matter. Using official logos helps your audience immediately understand that your work is connected to the campus. When your communications look like it’s part of the same UC San Diego family, it builds trust, strengthens credibility and makes your communication more effective because people know who it’s coming from.
Only a few official logo types are approved for use: the institutional logo, unit sub-brand logos, college logos and the Athletics logos (which are reserved exclusively for Athletics). Official logos are created by University Communications so you don’t have to worry about re-creating or designing your own: Just fill out this form to request one. This ensures every unit has access to high-quality, consistent assets. All other designed elements are considered “wordmarks” or “graphics” and cannot be used as logos or to identify a campus unit.
Using only approved logos keeps your materials looking polished and professional. It also reinforces UC San Diego’s brand value and makes it easier for your audiences to recognize and trust your work across all channels.
For more guidance on official logos, how to use them and what to avoid, visit the logos section of the UC San Diego brand website.
