Pennsylvania isn’t easing into the new year — we’re accelerating. From major business wins and workforce strength to housing stability and Main Street investment, we’re delivering measurable results across the Commonwealth.

Pennsylvania ended 2025 with undeniable momentum. Under Governor Josh Shapiro’s leadership, December alone delivered more than $350 million in new private-sector investment, helping support over 5,000 jobs statewide.

Behind the numbers is smarter government. A new Shapiro Administration report highlights faster permitting, better coordination, and hands-on project support that help businesses move from proposal to production more quickly. The payoff: Pennsylvania now ranks among the top states for new business survival, signaling a more competitive and predictable business climate.

Workforce readiness remains a standout strength. The Lehigh Valley and Scranton ranked among the top 20 U.S. metros for industrial employers, reinforcing Pennsylvania’s edge in talent, infrastructure, and site readiness.

Housing stability is foundational to strong communities and economic opportunity. Last month, the Shapiro Administration invested more than $5.3 million from the Emergency Solutions (ESG) Grant program to help communities across Pennsylvania address homelessness.

The funding supports local organizations providing emergency shelter, rapid rehousing, and critical services for individuals and families facing housing insecurity. By partnering directly with community-based providers, resources are reaching people faster — and closer to where help is needed.

These investments also support long-term outcomes. Stable housing improves workforce participation, strengthens families, and reduces strain on emergency systems. As communities confront rising housing costs and increased demand for services, Pennsylvania is backing local leaders with targeted, practical solutions. 

Pennsylvania continues to attract major investment from global employers. In Lancaster County, Eurofins Lancaster Laboratories announced a $147.5 million expansion, creating 250 new jobs and strengthening the Commonwealth’s life sciences sector.

Statewide activity is accelerating as Johnson & Johnson deepens its commitment to Pennsylvania’s life sciences sector. The company is set to build a state-of-the-art, next generation cell therapy manufacturing facility right here in PA. In Southwestern Pennsylvania, Calgon Carbon Corporation is expanding manufacturing operations with a $13.2 million investment in Allegheny County.

Together, these projects reflect Pennsylvania’s competitive advantage — a skilled workforce, strong research and manufacturing base, and a business climate built for growth.

Strong communities drive a strong economy. Last month, the Shapiro Administration announced a new Main Street designation for Gettysburg, recognizing local leadership committed to revitalizing the historic downtown and supporting small businesses.

At the same time, more than $14 million in new community development funding was invested statewide to strengthen communities and spur economic development through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA). Additionally, $5 million in Local Share Account (LSA) investment is going to support 17 community projects in Philadelphia, including park improvements, maternal health services, and neighborhood revitalization.

From Main Streets to neighborhood improvements, these critical investments help communities protect our environment and enhance infrastructure to create safer and healthier communities across Pennsylvania.
