April 1 The President's Cabinet is meeting this morning. Pray that the Lord would be present in their meeting, give them wisdom and discernment, and bless each one as they lead their respective department(s) on campus.
2 Our coaches work very hard year-round recruiting, coaching, and mentoring their students in the name of Jesus. Pray for them as they maintain balance and focus on God in their work.
3 Pray for our students who are facing challenges, that they understand that there is a way through each challenge and that way is through God.
4 Ask God to bless our seniors by allowing every detail to fall into place so that they may graduate with as little stress as possible.
5 Many of our student-athletes are competing today. Baseball at home, softball and tennis on the road. Pray for safe travel, good sportsmanship, and that all student-athletes and coaches represent SC well and honor the Lord.
6 Scripture focus: II Peter 1:5-8 "For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ."
7 Pray that students, faculty, and staff would have the discipline to set aside time to be still and know that He is God.
8 Pray that the Lord would bring the right candidates to fill the open positions we have on campus.
9 Take a moment today to lift up President Scott Rich.
10 Commencement is one month from today (May 10th). Pray for Dr. Ken Brown, vice president for academic affairs, Dr. Erin Laudermilk, associate vice president for academic affairs, and Renee Dodson, administrative assistant for academic affairs, as they finalize the details of the programming for this special event.
11 Ask God to give focus and direction to our graduating seniors who are likely battling a bit of “senioritis.”
12 Give thanks to God for the relationships that exist between students and professors, and pray that those relationships would be mutually encouraging and contribute to a strong campus community.
13 Scripture focus: Galatians 5:22-23 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law."
14 Pray for Sterling College alumni who are serving in education around the country as they gear up to finish the school year strong.
15 Pray a blessing over our dining staff who work for our food service provider Chartwells. They serve our campus diligently and work long hours.
16 Pray for SC students who are traveling on missions trips this summer to Tokyo, Japan and Oaxaca, Mexico. Pray their funding comes in quickly and for the teams to continue forming close relationships with each other as they prepare to minister to others.
17 As the grass and flowers on campus are growing, so are the weeds. Pray for our grounds crew as they work diligently to steward the campus aesthetics well.
18 Today is Good Friday. Reflect on ALL that Christ did for you through His life, death, and resurrection. Isaiah 53:5, “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.”
19 Pray for baseball head coach Dylan Connolly, softball head coach Taylor Lira, and tennis head coach Nicole Salazar. Ask the Lord to richly and deeply bless these coaches as they impact their student-athletes for His glory.
20 Scripture focus: I Corinthians 15: 55-57 “Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." He IS Risen!
21 The Sterling College campus is closed today for Easter weekend. Pray that this time would be restful for students, faculty, and staff.
22 Our student leaders include resident assistants, team captains, student government officers and others. Pray that these leaders lead in effective ways that nurture truth, clarity, and involvement.
23 Today is the Senior Chapel. Ask the Lord to bless the seniors who share and speak to have clarity of thought and word. May those in attendance be blessed and may He be glorified.
24 Lift up our seniors as they face decisions of what to do after graduation. Pray for favor and discernment as they seek opportunities and clarity.
25 Today is the Mississippi Valley Alumni Association annual gathering in Aledo, IL. Pray that those who attend will renew their connection to SC and that it will be an enjoyable evening for all.
26 Today is "Love Sterling". Each spring the students and employees of Sterling College give back to the community of Sterling by doing service projects all over town. Pray that this will help to deepen the bond between the community and the college.
27 Scripture focus: Colossians 3:12 "Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience."
28 Pray for learning and growth for those involved in campus Bible studies.
29 In the busyness of the end of the year for faculty, staff, and students, pray that God will provide them with good health and the necessary energy to finish the semester well.
30 Many students are employed while completing their studies in college. Pray for them to find the proper balance between their work, studies, activities, family, and friends.
