In the wake of the tragic flooding along the Guadalupe River, the Vanderbilt Parent and Family Programs team extends our deepest condolences to those affected. We are thinking of our Vanderbilt Texas family and are here to support you in any way we are able.

We can’t wait for you to join us on campus for Family Weekend, Sept. 19–21! The weekend will offer opportunities for connection with your student, university leadership and fellow Commodores. Below are some helpful tips so you can be ready to register:

- We encourage families to arrive early. Accommodations fill up quickly! Find planning resources like hotel discounts and things to do around Nashville on our Visiting Nashville page. 

- Check out the weekend schedule before you register, as you will be asked to indicate if you plan to attend our Signature Events. These are our biggest events of the weekend, and it is helpful for us to know how many families to expect. 

- Look out for our pre-registration email next week. It will include detailed instructions on how to register for Family Weekend, as well as information on purchasing tickets to Saturday’s football game against Georgia State. 

Join the excitement as we welcome our newest Commodore families to campus! We’re looking for enthusiastic parent volunteers to be part of our Move-In Day Welcome Team.

As a volunteer, you’ll greet incoming families, hand out stickers and share helpful information to make their arrival smooth and memorable.

The Vanderbilt Board of Trust has reappointed Provost C. Cybele Raver to continue leading Vanderbilt’s academic mission through 2031, ensuring long-term continuity and strategic execution through the next decade. Together with Chancellor Daniel Diermeier, whose contract was recently extended through 2035, Raver’s leadership will be pivotal in shaping Vanderbilt’s future.

On June 6, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California granted final approval of the House v. NCAA settlement—launching a new era for college athletics. This ruling creates a foundation for greater stability, fairness and opportunity for student-athletes—and it affirms what we at Vanderbilt have long believed: transformation, when grounded in mission and values, creates opportunity.
