BEAD Deployment is underway! This month, the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority co-hosted BEAD Roundtables with the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission and the Northwest Commission in Western Pennsylvania.

Local municipalities joined both in-person and virtually to:

Review BEAD deployment in their area
Learn from Internet Service Providers about their projects
Discuss permitting processes and strategies
Foster collaboration and ask questions

Project Spotlights

Murrysville Public Library

Funded in part by a $400,000 investment from the PBDA’s Multi-Purpose Community Facilities grant program, the Murrysville Public Library celebrated the grand reopening of its adult and teen spaces in April. The renovation features the community’s most requested addition — three quiet rooms designed for studying, tutoring, remote work, telemedicine calls, job interviews, and so much more. The project also introduced flexible new furniture, improved wheelchair accessibility with updated flooring, and outdoor tables that allow residents to access Wi-Fi any time.

Downtown Shenandoah Inc.

A major new chapter in Shenandoah's revitalization is underway. Backed in part by $1.7 million from the Multi-Purpose Community Facilities program, Downtown Shenandoah, Inc.’s new Center for Education, Business & Arts (CEBA) will serve as a hub for education, entrepreneurship, and workforce training — helping drive economic opportunity across Schuylkill County.
