Hola Familia!
I'm a day early, but I wanted to be the first to wish you a happy National Hispanic Heritage Month! Each year, we celebrate the histories, cultures, and contributions of Americans whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. The “month” goes from September 15 through October 15, during which many Latin American countries celebrate their independence, as well as Columbus Day, or Día de la Raza. A quick Google search will yield lists of many well-loved artists, musicians, politicians, scientists, authors, etc., of Latin American origins, some of whom may surprise you! Take some time this month to learn about some of these people and how they continue to influence the world.
We have launched a new podcast, "Purposefull" with Pastor Jenn, where she talks with people about how they lead their everyday lives with purpose. Make sure to check out her latest episode where she interviews the Rev. Dr. Lydia Muñoz, ordained minister and Executive Director of the National Plan for Hispanic/Latino Ministry in the UMC (available wherever you get your podcasts). Lydia will be one of our guest speakers during our upcoming TheoEd Orlando event, which will be held on Sunday, September 24 in Founder’s Hall. We are so excited to have her and the rest of our panel of speakers! Learn more about the event, purchase your tickets (or buy a whole table for friends and family!), or sign up to volunteer by clicking here.
We have an exciting few weeks ahead, starting with...
