Thanks to your efforts, the Class of 2028 is talented and diverse, with 1,851 students, 53% of whom are female, 18% of whom are first-generation college students, and 47% of whom identify as a student of color (compared with 53% last year, in this first class since the U.S. Supreme Court banned race-conscious admissions). Students hail from 49 states and 32 countries. The percentage of students receiving financial aid awards increased from 42% to 48%, and students from rural communities increased from 4% to 6%. See the articles below for more details about how the university's broad efforts to recruit students of all backgrounds is paying off:
STARS College Network expands
WashU enrolls more limited-income, first generation students; share of Black students decreases
As we begin a new admissions season, we look forward to working with you to continue to connect with the best and brightest students across the country for the WashU Class of 2029!

As you now know, as of June 1, 2024, student interviews are no longer a part of the APAP volunteer programs, or the admissions process. Admissions will instead offer Bear Chats, casual opportunities for prospective students to chat one-on-one for 15-20 minutes with current students.
These informal talks are an opportunity to learn more about the WashU student experience, including academics, student life, living in St. Louis, and more. Bear Chats are offered both online and in-person, and are designed to be informational, not evaluative. The chats are not required, and they do not impact a student’s application for admission.
For more details about why interviews were discontinued, please see our full announcement and frequently asked questions page. For any questions or concerns not addressed, please reach out to us anytime at apap@wustl.edu.

New this year, in order to remain an active APAP volunteer, you must log into the APAP Volunteer Portal annually to agree to the volunteer eligibility requirements for the current admissions cycle.
The APAP Volunteer Portal is the hub of APAP participation where you can customize your profile and volunteer activity preferences. Please take a moment to let us know more about you, including what languages you speak, whether you were a first-generation college student, and what types of opportunities interest you most so that we can better match you with volunteer events and opportunities going forward.
If you do not sign and agree to the volunteer eligibility requirements during the 24-25 cycle, we will assume you are no longer interested in volunteering for APAP in 25-26.

- College Fair volunteers needed
-
Fall is the busiest time for College Fairs, information-gathering events for high school students to learn about colleges and universities. We rely on our APAP members—both parents and alumni—to staff many of these on behalf of WashU. College Fairs take place all over the world! In order to receive emails about College Fair staffing opportunities, you must opt in through the "Edit Activities" section of the APAP Portal. Once you've opted in, watch your email for requests to staff fairs in your area!
- Show your WashU pride at work
-
Tell us about your experience as a rural-area student
-
If you attended high school in a rural area or small town, or currently live in one, we'd love to hear from you! Please complete this short survey. It should take five minutes or less of your time.

Leave of absence policy reminder |
Reminder to all volunteers: If you have a child who is a senior in high school, you must take a leave of absence from APAP. Reach out to us via email if you need to take a leave of absence this school year.

The new year brings new leadership to APAP as we welcome Mollie Corum, senior director, Class and University programs. Mollie has been with WashU for over four years, overseeing the planning of undergraduate reunions, student engagement programs, Founders Day, and now APAP.
Allison Davis, associate director; and Angela Foley, coordinator, are still with APAP, along with new APAP staff Barb Iovaldi, associate director; Maddie Gilmore, coordinator; and
Whitney Boggs,
administrative assistant.
Please reach out to us anytime via email or phone at 800-935-4826, with questions, concerns, or ideas!
