UMM & UMWOW - JOINT LUNCHEON

Sunday, August 2

On Sunday August 2nd United Methodist Women of Wellspring (UMWOW) and United Methodist Men (UMM) are holding their second joint potluck luncheon of the year! We will meet at noon following the 11:00 am church service. Our own Jen Mauldin will be our special speaker. Jen is a longtime member of Wellspring and serves on the Georgetown ISD School Board. As we approach the back-to-school season, Jen will share how Wellspring can support the students and parents in our community.

Please bring a main or side dish or dessert (sign-up LINK is https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F0C4DA9A72DA46-64786746-umwow). Questions? Please reach out to Cathy Wyman (csnwyman@wymanusa.org) or Bob Sinclair (sinclairbob941@gmail.com). We hope you'll join us for another uniquely collaborative meeting!

Backpacks for Students

Wellspring’s UMWOW and UMM invite you to support for our community by helping to provide 2000 backpacks filled with school supplies to Georgetown ISD students before the start of the new school year.

The project is being led by the Georgetown Cultural Citizen Memorial Association in association with the Carver Center for Families.  They need both donations and volunteers to load (on July 29 & 30) and distribute (on August 8th) the backpacks.  Please see https://gccmatx.com/2026-backpack-distribution-project/ for specific links to sign up to volunteer and/or donate funds.  Feel free to email Cathy Wyman if you have any questions at cdkwyman@gmail.com.

“The Path of Vulnerability”  Matthew 4:1-11 from A Women’s Lectionary for the Whole Church by Wilda Gafney.  People often equate vulnerability with weakness, but Jesus shows us a vulnerability that is anything but weak. Vulnerability is the posture with which we connect to God. It is the way we shed our pride and privilege (false self, ego, shadow) and build authentic identity and community.  Contact Neal Baumwart (nbaumwart@hotmail.com)
