Spooky Good Password Tips
While the following tips are specific to your Sac State account, it's a good rule of thumb for any of your account passwords. And it goes without saying, never share your password with anyone for any reason.
Create a Strong, Unique Password
- A minimum of 12 characters; passphrases encouraged
- Doesn't contain your profile ID or name
- Doesn't include 3 consecutive same characters
- Isn't an old password
- Isn't used for any other account
Change it Regularly, Change it Completely
- With Duo in place as an extra layer of protection, campus systems require a password change less frequently. However, if you knowingly or unknowingly shared it, or you think your account may have been compromised (you clicked on a suspicious link or provided information in a phishing scam) reset your password right away and choose something completely different at password.csus.edu.
