A Bit of the Bubbly?
Some time in the early 1980s, Josh salvaged this hinged contraption from the flooded basement of a defunct West Virginia glass factory. The story involved him wandering around during an auction, glimpsing something enticing in a flooded basement, stripping down to his underwear, wading in and feeling around in black water with his feet and arms, hauling out the rusty dripping prize, and hiding his excitement so as not to tip off the auctioneer. The result? This 19th-century gizmo that creates mesmerizing bubble patterns in hot glass.
