Upcoming September Release |
As a reminder, Workday updates our system twice a year, in March and September, referred to as bi-annual Workday releases.
The September release will occur on September 19th. The Workday operations team is reviewing and testing the changes now. If any updates affect how faculty and staff use Workday, we’ll share what you need to know before the release.

Expanded Visibility into Employee Jobs in Workday |
Users within the Department Admin and Manager security groups now have expanded visibility in Workday and can view additional jobs held by employees they support. Compensation information for jobs outside the manager or department admin’s department remains restricted.
This enhancement provides greater insight into employee jobs enabling managers and department administrators to make more informed decisions when processing employment actions. In particular, this will help determine whether the End Job or Terminate Employee task in Workday is the most appropriate action following the completion of the employee’s job.

We want to thank the Workday users who met with the Workday change management team last week to share concerns and deficiencies regarding payroll accounting adjustments. Workday Student: Readiness Update |
The Workday Student project will remain in the readiness phase through the end of the calendar year. This important planning stage sets the foundation for a successful implementation.
Current project team activities include:
|
- Conducting key assessments and planning activities to help W&M’s team become more prepared to begin the Workday Student project in early 2027 and fully go live for student operations by fall 2029.
-
Finding practical steps to address concerns or gaps in functional, technical, and change management needs before the project begins.
- Creating a realistic plan that helps W&M start the project with confidence and adjust as needs change.
|
Although much of this work happens behind the scenes, it is building the foundation for success. We’ll continue sharing updates in future editions of the Workday Watch as the project moves forward.
