Next ‘Winter Market on Main’ this Sunday |
Shop for winter produce, eggs, meat, treats and more at the Skokie Farmers’ Market’s “Winter Market on Main” this Sunday!
Hours and location: Stop by from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Sunday, January 26, at 4051 Main St.
Music and activities: Enjoy tunes from Market Jam Band and snack on free s’mores (while supplies last) at the fire pit starting at 10 a.m.
Food pantry donations: We’ll also be collecting clothing, diapers, toiletries and non-perishable food times for donation to the Niles Township Food Pantry. Bring items to the green Skokie Farmers’ Market tent.

'Giggles and Goodies' In Downtown Skokie, February 13

Bring your bae or your bestie for a sweet and laughter-filled evening on Thursday, February 13 in Downtown Skokie! Giggles and Goodies is a Valentine’s-themed event that invites you and your beloved to explore local businesses, collect chocolate treats, and enjoy lighthearted fun, concluding with a comedy show at Skokie Theatre.
Reserve your spot: Purchase your ticket, which includes participation for two people, one box of bonbons (eight per box), two flowers, two hot drinks, and admission for two at the Skokie Theatre.

Refuse Collection:

- Tuesday collection will occur on Wednesday, January 22
- Thursday and Friday collections will occur as usual with no changes

Recycling Collection:
There are no changes to the recycling schedule.

New Tower Ladder 18 Placed Into Service
|
On Monday, the Village of Skokie and the Skokie Fire Department celebrated the placement of a new fire truck into service at Fire Station #18, 9024 Gross Point Rd.! The Pierce Ascendant Tower Ladder replaces the 2001 Truck 18 aerial apparatus.
A lasting legacy: Firefighter Andrew Cutting, who died in the line of duty in 2023, was key in the refurbishment of Truck 18 and helped develop specifications for the new Tower Ladder. Cutting’s legacy was celebrated as the truck was placed into service on Monday.

Local History: The ACLU, Nazis, and Freedom of Speech in Skokie

Join Skokie Public Library for a free online event tonight, Tuesday, January 21, at 6:30 p.m., featuring David Goldberger, the former ACLU lawyer who represented a group of Chicago-area Nazis who sought to hold a demonstration in downtown Skokie in 1977. Learn about the "Skokie case" and the uses and limits of our First Amendment.
