About the Program
This year’s Education Law Symposium is focused on the Supreme Court’s evolving role in shaping the legal landscape of public education. The first panel will explore the Supreme Court’s decision in Mahmoud v. Taylor (2025) and its implications for who controls classroom content, looking at the balance between religious liberty, educational inclusivity, and local authority inside the classroom. The second panel will explore the structural impact that charter schools, particularly the potential for religious charter schools, could have on public education. It will focus especially on what this could mean for schools and school districts in both the short and long-term, how states and state actors have responded, and what else can be done.
