| Dear colleagues,
In this Year of the Environment, William & Mary celebrates our shared commitment to safeguarding the environment and the communities that depend on it. There will be multiple exciting Earth Week events and opportunities taking place across campus in the coming days. I encourage you to take a look at the Year of the Environment events page and participate as your schedules allow.

Here are the top “5 Things to Know” this week:
|
-
Commencement Weekend begins May 15th and offers a powerful opportunity to celebrate the Class of 2025 and the collective effort that brought them to this milestone. I know how deeply you care about our students. This is a moment to reaffirm that commitment by standing with them in celebration. I ask that you make every possible effort to participate in this important university tradition. To process, please complete the required form by May 5th. The presence of faculty at Commencement sends the right message to our graduates and their families. When only a few faculty process, it risks misrepresenting the care and dedication that I know define our community. If you are able to support any of the special events taking place throughout the weekend, volunteer sign-ups are live via GivePulse. Thank you for helping uphold these meaningful William & Mary traditions.
- As a reminder, the ceremony for the 2025 Plumeri Awards for Faculty Excellence will be held on May 9th. Please accept or decline by Friday, May 2nd.
-
The deadline to apply for the May Writers' Retreat is also Friday, May 2nd. The purpose of the retreat is to provide uninterrupted time to work on a specific writing project, complete research, edit a manuscript, or prepare a grant proposal.
-
W&M Libraries has launched a new digital collection of professional development and academic interest ebooks and audiobooks through OverDrive. Faculty, staff, and students can easily browse, borrow, and read ebooks or listen to audiobooks on their phones, tablets, or computers.

This week’s shoutout goes to W&M’s 2025 Inclusive Excellence Champions. I was honored to participate in last week’s reception and celebrate their leadership and innovation. Once again, thank you and congratulations to all!
