We don’t know about you, but we cannot believe it’s already August, and the students will be here in just a few weeks. It has been a great summer, but we are ready to welcome you all to East Lansing! Team members across campus have been working hard to plan a great Fall Welcome Presented by MSUFCU for students. We hope your Spartan checks out the events and plans to participate in all Fall Welcome has to offer, including creating an individualized schedule!
New Spartans are likely feeling a mix of excitement and some anxiety about meeting new people, and Fall Welcome is a great opportunity to meet other students! We encourage students to embrace the discomfort by introducing themselves to their fellow Spartans. We want them to explore campus and participate in opportunities to meet others, which means they may need to employ friend-making skills they haven't for a long time. One way to do so is to go to class and eat in the dining halls (rather than get Grab & Go or combos) — get out of that room or apartment for a while! It may seem others already have friends while they are struggling, so encourage them to keep trying and remind them it may take time to find their group!
Speaking of meeting new Spartans, you may also be looking to connect with other Spartan supporters. Come hang out with us Tuesday or Wednesday, Aug. 20 or 21 (or both!), and celebrate or commiserate your student’s big move. We will be at the Kellogg Center, from 6-8 p.m., both days offering light snacks and nonalcoholic beverages, and a cash bar for those interested in having an adult beverage. We would love to meet you and will be sure to have this year’s sticker to pass out! (You don’t have to register to attend, but if you know you’re coming, we’d love to get a count.)
There a great deal of information to share in August, so be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom for important updates! We can’t wait to see you all very soon!
Take care,
Laurin

2024 Family Weekend and Ticket Link
Family Weekend Presented by MSUFCU is Nov. 1-3, and we are excited to share details on what will be included for the weekend’s events soon! We are working hard on this year’s schedule and array of partner events that are only available Family Weekend, including MSU Memorial Chapel tours, tours of Beaumont Tour, experiences in the MSU Main Library, and the pregame tailgate (with full menu!). Thanks to a generous sponsorship from MSUFCU, the Sunday breakfast with administrators is included in this year’s registration fee. Registration for Family Weekend Presented by MSUFCU opens Monday, Aug. 12 and will remain open until Friday, Oct.18.
Many of you already know you would like to attend the MSU vs. Indiana football game Saturday, Nov. 2. Please note, tickets to the football game are not included in Family Weekend registration. They must be purchased separately!
Tickets to the football game can be purchased through MSU Athletic Ticket Office or online through FEVO. This is a special Family Weekend block of seats that has a slightly reduced price per ticket, and all tickets are in the same seating areas so you can cheer with other Spartan families! If your student has season tickets in the student section and you want them to sit with you, you will need to purchase a ticket in the family section for them. Their student section ticket is not transferrable to this block seating area, and family section tickets cannot be used in the student section.
For additional seating and pricing options not affiliated with Family Weekend, click here.

Financial Aid
MSU financial aid packages are now available! Visit your financial aid portal at student.msu.edu and take action on any items that require attention. Financial aid packages are not complete until you finalize any outstanding items. It’s important to make sure you’re looking at the AUG 2024-MAY 2025 tab to take action for the upcoming aid year.
You may have already completed these tasks. If actions on your financial aid portal home page are listed as “Completed” or “Not Required,” no further action is needed. Even if you think you’ve done everything necessary, it’s a good practice to check your portal regularly for any important messages regarding your aid. As always, contact the Office of Financial Aid with any questions about your financial aid package.
