We hope you are enjoying your summer as much as we are, though we miss your students and are excited to soon welcome them back to campus. It’s just too quiet here without them!
Speaking of welcoming them back, we’re also excited to welcome you! A hearty ‘Go Green!’ (and a response of ‘Go White’) to our incoming Spartan families. We’re happy you’re here and are looking forward to supporting you during your student’s time at MSU. Keep reading for ways to connect with us!
We have some new ways to keep campus near to you while at home. The infamous, and handy squirrel calendar is available to purchase online or in the MSU Union and 1855 Place Spartan Spirit Shops, to help you plan for important campus events and due dates.
Wishing you a lovely July with warm breezes, cool beverages, and dreams filled with the wonderful sights and sounds of the most beautiful campus. We’ll see you soon!
Take care,
Laurin

Registration will include a resource fair and educational seminars, open houses and specialty tours at various campus locations, MSU Women’s Volleyball game Friday night, tailgate before the football game, student talent and crafting with University Activities Board, and a breakfast with administration, along with parking on Friday and Sunday (Saturday parking follows game-day procedures) and one gift per family. Watch this page for schedule updates and the link to register.
If you are interested in attending the MSU vs. Indiana football game Saturday, Nov. 2, tickets are now available for purchase! Please note: Tickets to the football game are not included in the Family Weekend registration and must be purchased separately. For additional seating and pricing options not affiliated with Family Weekend, click here.
These tickets offer a special Family Weekend block of seats at a slightly reduced price, and all tickets are in the same seating areas so you can cheer with other Spartan families! If your student has season tickets in the student section and you want them to sit with you, you will need to purchase a ticket in the family section for them. Their student section ticket is not transferrable to this block seating area, and family section tickets cannot be used in the student section.
Reminder from the Athletic Ticket Office that families who sign up for communications from the MSU Athletic Ticket Office will receive information regarding an opportunity to purchase tickets prior to the general public! Sign up to receive more information from MSU Athletics!

Safety and Security Updates
As part of MSU's commitment to enhance capabilities within its mass notification alert system, the university will begin automatically enrolling cell phone and preferred/primary residence phone numbers for students and employees into the MSU Alert system this summer. This is expected to be completed late July. Please remind your student to update their phone number in the Student Information System (SIS) to automatically receive alerts via phone call and/or SMS text message.
Former students and employees, affiliates, community members, and parents may receive MSU Alerts by downloading the SafeMSU App or by texting MSUALERT to 888777. More information can be found on the MSU Alert website.

Student Employment
Is your Spartan ready to dive into campus life? Think about this: Back in high school, they had a full day of classes, extracurriculars and homework. But come Aug. 26, they’ll have a lot more free time with only a few hours of classes each day. What’s the best way to fill that gap?
Getting a part-time job on campus from the start can be a game changer! It’s not just about pocket money — it’s about building a daily routine, making new friends and gaining skills that will sparkle on a resume. On-campus jobs, and there are plenty to choose from, offer flexible hours tailored to student schedules. They’re a proven path to higher grades and a happier college experience.
Talk with your Spartan about the benefits of working on campus and explore options with Student Life & Engagement at jobs.sle.msu.edu.

Resources and Community Are Available for Students with Disabilities
The Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities (RCPD), now a unit of University Health and Wellbeing (UHW), aims to provide accommodations, resources and community for students with disabilities. RCPD's goal is to ensure access for disabled people to all aspects of campus life and build community that supports inclusion at MSU. To get connected with RCPD and start the interactive process of determining accommodations, visit rcpd.msu.edu. The Get Started page will assist in creating a profile.

Housing Assignments for Incoming Students
Housing assignments for incoming students were shared this week, and students should have received an email notification when they became available. Please note, the Housing Assignments Office assigned rooms based on the preferences students submitted (that were due in June). While the Housing Assignments Office strives to honor as many preferences as possible, including bathroom type, all requests cannot be guaranteed due to limited space. Some preferences outweigh others, which is detailed in the hierarchy of assignments.
