Transforming Lives Through Collaboration: HomeAid’s Journey at PCBC
What a great time it was for HomeAid to gather from across the country this last week in Anaheim, CA for the annual Pacific Coast Builders Conference!
We are truly grateful to the California Building Industry Association (CBIA) for having HomeAid as part of the show this year. CBIA is the prominent trade association representing the housing industry in California and serves as the voice of the state's builders, developers, contractors, architects, suppliers, and other professionals involved in residential construction.
PCBC has a long-standing history and has been organized by CBIA for several decades and has grown to become one of the largest and most influential builders shows in the United States. PCBC has consistently provided a platform for HomeAid to learn, gather, network, and showcase to industry professionals our mission of building a future without homelessness.
HomeAid benefited from attending and participating in PCBC in several ways.
Networking and Partnerships: PCBC attracts a wide range of professionals from the residential building industry, including builders, contractors, suppliers, architects, and developers. While at PCBC, the HomeAid team (both national and affiliate staff as well as board members) was able to network with industry leaders, forge partnerships, and establish connections with potential collaborators. These connections led to new opportunities for HomeAid, such as securing construction resources, accessing donated building materials, and forming partnerships with those who attended willing to assist with HomeAid's projects with our affiliates.
Visibility and Awareness: PCBC provided a platform for HomeAid to raise awareness about its mission and initiatives. By participating in PCBC, HomeAid showcased its work displaying success stories, and highlighting the impact we have made in addressing homelessness and housing insecurity. This exposure not only validated who was already involved with HomeAid but also helped attract potential donors, sponsors, and volunteers who share HomeAid's commitment to addressing housing-related challenges.
Fundraising and Support: PCBC provided a platform for HomeAid to thank our current sponsors and supporters such as Sherwin Williams, Westwood Insurance, 2-10 Homebuyers Warranty, MSI, Bank of America, Builders FirstSource, Zonda, Peninsula Publishing, and many others as well as to engage with potential donors and supporters. Attending PCBC allowed HomeAid to showcase its projects, share its impact, and build relationships with individuals and corporations interested in supporting our cause.
Collaboration with Industry Professionals: PCBC brought together professionals from various sectors of the housing industry who share a common interest in improving housing conditions. While at PCBC, HomeAid collaborated with builders, architects, and other industry stakeholders exchanging ideas, sharing expertise, and exploring innovative approaches to addressing homelessness and housing challenges. This included a site tour to LifeArk in El Monte, CA LifeArk Tyler is LifeArk’s first pilot project providing permanent supportive housing and ongoing intensive case management services for individuals previously experiencing homelessness. LifeArk is a pre-fabricated, modular building system that can create self-sustaining communities on water and land. It is a rapidly deployable response that will potentially mobilize economic development and regeneration for thousands of displaced people around the world
Industry Recognition: PCBC hosts award ceremonies that honor outstanding achievements in various categories related to residential construction, design, and innovation. One of these ceremonies is the California Homebuilding Foundation's Hall of Fame. During the Hall of Fame Awards Dinner, the inductees in the Hall of Fame are recognized and honored for their outstanding achievements and their positive influence on the industry. The Hall of Fame Awards Dinner serves as a platform to celebrate the industry's leaders, share their success stories, and provide inspiration to others in the residential building industry. It is an occasion for attendees to come together, show appreciation for the honorees, and recognize their significant contributions to the growth, innovation, and advancement of the industry as a whole. This year’s inductees included BrightSky Residential’s CEO Leonard Miller, Adrian Foley of Brookfield Properties, Trumark Homes' Michael Maples and Gregg Nelson, and posthumously John F. Shea. Their collective efforts and commitment to homebuilding have been truly exceptional and have made a significant impact on our industry. Congratulations!
Overall, attending and participating in PCBC provided HomeAid with valuable networking opportunities, visibility, knowledge, partnerships, and support that contribute to our mission of addressing homelessness and housing insecurity.
