News worth sharing from Texas Christian University

Few people have had a larger impact on the region’s growth than Hillwood executives Ross Perot Jr. and TCU Trustee Mike Berry. These titans of development talked on campus about how Perot predicted the Taylor Sheridan phenomenon and what the iconic filmmaker, TV producer and writer’s big plans mean for a booming region. 

Only Here welcomed Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker for a conversation with Chancellor Daniel W. Pullin on the importance of green spaces, the financial and community aspects of big-time athletics in Fort Worth, and the relationship between the university and Cowtown.  

Fourth-year TCU medical student Connie Linardos ’22 understands medicine is effective only when taken. This inspired her research on how the viscosity of a liquid medication impacts a child’s willingness to take it. She’s working across university disciplines for her study.

Is Texas Causing Hollywood to Panic?

Acclaimed filmmaker, writer and producer Taylor Sheridan is building a 450,000-square-foot production facility in Fort Worth, and Newsweek says “the threat is real” to Hollywood. Richard Allen, an Emmy Award-winning professor of film, television and digital media at TCU, said, “The fact that technology has globalized media accessibility so widely — and that cities like Atlanta, Chicago and Fort Worth are able to become legitimate hubs of production — that threatens the centrality and dominance of Hollywood as the absolute mecca of the entertainment industry.”
