Brothers Arthur Lynch ’88 and James Lynch ’91 are proud of their St. John’s Law family tree, which spans five generations, starting with their grandfather, Arthur V. Lynch ’32, and grandmother, Elizabeth T. Lynch ’55; continuing to their uncle, Harry V. Lynch ’68, and then to Arthur and Jim; and now including their nephew, Daniel Lynch ’20, Arthur’s daughter, Molly Lynch ’27, and Jim’s daughter, Abigail Lynch ’28. To honor those family ties, the brothers have established a scholarship for students at the Law School. Professor Robin Boyle-Laisure’s book, Taken No More: Protect Your Children Against Traffickers and Cults (Bloomsbury), has earned a Silver Medal from the Living Now Book Awards in the Category of Living Now Evergreen Book Medal for World Peace. This is the fourth book award for Taken No More, which was published last November. Professor Boyle-Laisure’s article, “The Jury Needs to Hear It: Amending and Expanding the Definition of ‘Coercion’ Under the Federal Trafficking Statutes,” will be published in the Western New England Law Review. Her co-authored article, “The Written Rebuttal: Constructing Counterarguments in Objective Legal Analysis,” will be published in the peer-reviewed Journal of Law Teaching and Learning.

Professor Lisa K. Dicker’s article, “Public Justice for Privatized Conflicts: The Challenges Private Military and Security Companies Present for Transitional Justice,” has been published in the Fordham International Law Journal.

Continuing his series of large datasets on national trademark registration systems, Professor Jeremy Sheff has published the “Japan Trademarks Dataset” on Zenodo. The accompanying paper is forthcoming in the peer-reviewed Journal of Law and Empirical Analysis. He presented the paper at the 26th Annual Intellectual Property Scholars Conference at Stanford Law School.

Professor Miriam A. Cherry, Faculty Director of St. John’s Center for Labor and Employment Law, shares insights about the early 19th century Luddite movement in a recent Politico article exploring how current opposition to AI data centers is reminiscent of the Luddites. 

Professors Christine Lazaro and Louis Jim, co-faculty advisors of the St. John’s Law Moot Court Honor Society, attended the Training Advocates Conference at the Charleston School of Law, an annual event for moot court, mock trial, and dispute resolution educators. Serving as a panelist, Professor Lazaro discussed how to keep students engaged throughout the competition preparation process, manage professionalism issues that arise between students and their coaches, and build resilience while maintaining balance.

At a plenary session of the International Consortium for Law and Religion Studies’ (ICLARS) 8th Biennial Conference at the University of Palermo in Italy, Professor Mark Movsesian presented a paper addressing religious sorting—the sociological and political trend in which people group themselves based on religious affiliation or non-affiliation—and the Establishment Clause.

We are saddened by the passing of Professor Mary Lyndon, a distinguished legal scholar, environmental lawyer, and longtime faculty member who educated and inspired generations of St. John’s Law students.

Before joining the Law School faculty in 1986, Professor Lyndon served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of New York, working on acid rain and other environmental issues. At St. John’s Law, she taught environmental law, international environmental law, torts, and toxic torts, and her scholarship explored the intersections of science, economics, and law.

Professor Lyndon shared her knowledge, intellectual curiosity, and deep interest in environmental law and policy with students and colleagues throughout her many years at the Law School.

On Wednesday, October 28, 2026, the Law School will host a memorial mass and reception on campus to honor Professor Lyndon’s life and legacy. You can learn more and RSVP to attend.
