HOT LUNCH PROGRAM INFORMATION
FOR 2024-2025
We are excited to start serving school lunches again for 2024-2025 on August 15. This mailing will cover some important points about the lunch program for the coming year.
Students will have the option of taking either the regular hot lunch (as posted on the monthly lunch menu), a sandwich lunch, a salad lunch, or a cold lunch brought from home.
School provided lunches include a milk as part of the base charge; students bringing a cold lunch from home can purchase a milk if desired. Students in grades 2-8 also have the option of purchasing juice cartons or small bottled waters (a charge is always assessed for a juice carton or bottled water, even if taken instead of a milk). Cups of water from coolers will be made available for free every day as well.
Meal pricing for 2024-2025 is listed below:
-->Preschool (ages 3-5): $3.00
-->Grades K-5: $3.45
-->Grades 6-8: $3.55
-->Guests: $4.75
Additionally, students may purchase extra a la carte items, with extras available varying by grade level. Pricing for extras for 2024-2025 is listed below:
-->Additional entrée: $1.70
-->Fruit or veggie: $0.85
-->Grain: $0.85
-->Yogurt/cheese stick: $0.85
-->Milk, juice, or bottled water: $0.55
If a student has a lunch account with a negative balance, he or she will still be able to get a school lunch but will not be able to purchase any extras until the negative balance is addressed.
At the start of the school year, all families will be provided a free/reduced lunch application form. Eligibility for free/reduced lunch status is determined by federal and state guidelines. Students who qualified for free/reduced lunch status last year will have that status carried forward for the 2024-2025 school year through September 26; after that date, only students qualifying via direct certification from the Nebraska Department of Education's Child Nutrition Program or by submitting a new application which is approved will maintain free/reduced lunch status.
Lunch deposits are recorded in PowerSchool on a student-by-student basis, with lunch charges then debited against those deposits. Deposits may be made by check or online via eFunds for Schools.
If paying for lunches by check, please indicate the amount to be applied to each child’s account in the memo line of the check or on the envelope sent to school. Students may give lunch deposit checks to their homeroom teachers for forwarding on to the office.
If paying for lunches via eFunds, be sure all of your children are listed in your efunds for School account. If they aren’t, contact Ray Bentzen (bentzenr@svdpomaha.org) for assistance in getting them added.
For more information on creating and using an eFunds account, you can click here. To access the login page for our eFunds for Schools portal, click here. Both links can also be found under Quick Links for Parents on the school homepage.
Parents will be able to log into parent PowerSchool accounts and check lunch balance and transaction history information for students after the final Curriculum Night session on August 22.
Parents can log into eFunds for Schools accounts now but won’t see balance information in eFunds until August 12. Also on August 12, any settings parents have in place for automatic low balance payments will go back into effect; parents may want to review eFunds account settings to be sure they are still what is desired.
Balance information shown in PowerSchool (including via parent PowerSchool accounts) is updated as soon as deposits or charges are made. Balance information shown in eFunds for Schools is current as of midnight of the preceding day (data is synced once a day).
Thank you for taking the time to review this information!
And don't forget. . .
. . .all families need to complete and submit the 2024-2025 Activity Fees Form by August 14.
