When it came time for a rethink of the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens campus in downtown Sarasota, Florida, president Jennifer Rominiecki gave her design team a simple request: Make the project as green as possible. About seven years, a new three-building complex, and some 55,000 square feet of solar panels later, the team exceeded her wildest expectations. The reimagined space is now the world’s first botanical garden that produces more energy than it consumes. —Lindsey Liles, G&G digital reporter

The Masters. I’ve lived in Georgia my entire life and just made my first trip to the famous golf tournament. I’d been to Augusta several times, including numerous stopovers during my college years in Charleston, but to see it during this time of year is something special. Here are a few highlights:

Short haul: Despite the relatively short distance from my home in Atlanta, I opted to fly to make the most of my time. I hopped aboard with Wheels Up, an Atlanta-based company, landing at Daniel Field, a ten-minute drive from the tournament. If you’re flying through Augusta Regional Airport, stop and pet the resident pups!

Southern snacks: The concessions at Augusta National are known for the insanely affordable prices, with every item clocking in between two and five dollars. I tried a little bit of everything, and my favorites were the pimento cheese sandwich and the Crow’s Nest beer, made custom for the Masters by a mystery brewery. Augusta also has some fantastic restaurants, including one of my favorites, Nacho Mama’s.

Soaking up the scenery: It was incredible just to walk the course and see the historic clubhouse and abundant azaleas, which inspired this cocktail from another local fave, Craft & Vine. If you’re looking for more than golf out of your Augusta visit, pop by the Augusta Museum of History to see James Brown’s wildest outfits and the only green jacket found outside the club.
