Veldman family makes gift for a mental health research and services clinic in South Bend |
Multiple Veldman family foundations have made a gift to the University of Notre Dame to significantly expand the quality and availability of mental health care services in the South Bend area. The Wilma and Peter Veldman Family Psychology Clinic will be constructed in the East Bank neighborhood. The gift will fund expanded research and endow several key faculty positions.

The mayors of South Bend and Mishawaka recognized Notre Dame President Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., with keys to the cities at the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Service Recognition Breakfast in South Bend. Father Jenkins will step down at the end of the 2023-24 academic year after 19 years as president. South Bend Mayor James Mueller called him "a vital partner for our community," a sentiment echoed by Mishawaka Mayor Dave Wood.

Philanthropy students award $59,000 to local nonprofits |
Notre Dame students enrolled in the experiential learning course Philanthropy and the Common Good recently awarded a combined $59,000 to five local nonprofits: Cultivate Food Rescue, Corvilla, The CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) program, 100 Women Strong, and Neighbor to Neighbor.
