Due September 13, 2024
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – OTM Productions indie country recording artist Joe Hermes, one of the hottest new entertainers in the country rock scene, will roll out his “Double Shot” Waterfall Series in late summer. Characterized as a fearless risk-taker, fun-loving, deep, spiritual, patriotic, God-loving family man, the talented and versatile vocalist and performer is the dichotomy of country heart and hard-hitting rock. The tracks showcased in the “Double Shot” Waterfall Series will satisfy the palate of music enthusiasts with a thirst for both genres.

“I have a kinship with both country music and rock. …and I’ve found a home, among fans, to perform in both arenas,” Hermes introduced. “As an independent artist, I don’t have to stay in one lane. I’ve recorded tunes that are representative of my artistry and passion for both genres as an alternative fork in the road to give listeners what they seem to enjoy from ‘Joe Hermes’.”

Hermes will introduce the first two songs in the “Double Shot” line-up with the side-by-side release of the original tunes “Hey Son, (from the “Straight Up” country music top shelf) and “Black Label Country” (representing a selection from the “On The Rocks” rock barrel) on Friday, September 13, 2024. (Presale/Pre-save event begins September 6).

“Hey Son”
Written by Joe Hermes, Dale Oliver and Vinny Hickerson
Storyline: A life-affirming song with an uplifting, timeless message, the storyline embraces fatherhood and the extension of fatherly love and sound advice to a beloved son. The hopeful musical narration reveals a mature wisdom and the expression of the importance of hard work, truth, friendships, hope, faith, forgiveness and fun.

“This is a father/son song I wrote from my perspective and the relationship I share with my son.  It's an expression of my dedication to be the best dad that I can be. It’s also a recollection of my dad’s words as I was growing up. …my version of ‘I Hope You Dance’.”

Instrumental Highlights: Western baritone guitar opener depicts the masculinity of the voice.

“Black Label Country”
Written by Joe Hermes, Dale Oliver and Benjy Gaither
Storyline: Symbolic of folks cut from the same cloth who stand before God, family and country, the label represents strong principals and patriotism sewn and worn like a patch baring “We The People” pride branded by all-American values.

“This song stands firm in reviving principles that seem to have been forgotten—standing as a spread-eagle brotherhood with calloused hands celebrating our country and where we come from. No bones about it.”

Highlights: Rocking dueling guitars, heavy drums and gritty vocals hit on all cylinders to rev the gasoline of the track; banjo is creatively tucked into the mix.

Hermes will follow with four more tunes in the “Double-Shot” series; with two Series II recordings (“Outlaw's Gospel”/”Devil’s In The Details”) dropping in October, and Series III (“American Muscle”/”Outgun The Outlaw”) in November. The tracks are an introduction leading to his full-length CD (BLACK LABEL COUNTRY) featuring country and rock tunes scheduled for a January 2025 release.

Joe’s most recent releases, “Baptized By The South” (March 2024) and “Walk Away Whiskey” (June 2024) are enjoying momentum approaching 200,000 Spotify streams cumulatively.

ABOUT
Joe Hermes (h•e•r•m•i•s•s), one of the hottest new acts in the Rock Country scene, is a bonafide ‘battle-tested’ entertainer. Dedicated to his pursuit and driven by his commitment to his faith, family and belief in working for the American Dream, the Illinois native beams with a pride he stands behind.

The good-hearted, fun-loving former defensive lineman packs a big punch with edgy vocal textures and hard-hitting musical storylines (both intimate and boldly straight-up) that sift between the angel and devil as a stand-out signature. His raucous sound and high-energy stage performances (self-described as “gunpowder country”) originate from his earliest influences (Metallica, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Aerosmith, Pantera and Bon Jovi). Hermes strings together intense, soulful vocals, with raw, honest lyrics and his “Heart of Illinois” roots sound to rev a captivating listening experience.

With the encouragement and lending hand of renowned music producer Buddy Hyatt (TOTO, George Jones, Lee Greenwood, Mickey Gilley, Tracy Lawrence), Joe recorded the EP titled SOULS WITH STONES to make his official introduction in 2020. Unintimidated by the adversity and challenges of both the music industry and the COVID shutdown, Hermes pointed his concentration toward songwriting working alongside Grammy-award-winning songwriter/producer/manager Dale Oliver. In 2023, Joe released his full-length CD, ROCKIN’ A COUNTRY TOWN co-produced with Oliver behind the board. The project spotlights, original tunes penned alongside Oliver, Dan Couch (Kip Moore/Cody Johnson) and Big Vinny Hickerson (of the trio Trailor Choir) including “Stronger Than Whiskey'' and “Used To Be Me” which landed at No. 46 on the MusicRow Country Breakout Chart. Joe will release his sophomore CD, tilted BLACK LABEL COUNTRY featuring 13 originals, in late January 2025.

Reinforcing his conviction, dedication and talents, Hermes garnered early welcome and support from country radio, country music fans and his peers. In three short years, he’s shared the stage with some of the biggest names in country music entertainment [including David Nail, Ward Davis, Craig Campbell, Kolby Cooper, Myron Elkins and Kinsey Rose (The Voice) among others]. Establishing a foothold in the Rock ‘n Roll arena, Hermes has opened for Uncle Kracker, Black Stone Cherry, Head East, Jackyl and Lita Ford.
