UCO Football Hammer Hornets

UCO Football scored early and often in a 56-22 rout of Emporia State Saturday night highlighted by another big performance by All-American quarterback Jett Huff. The junior threw for 449 yards and five touchdowns as he paced the Bronchos on 20 of 28 passing. 

Central's defense limited Emporia State to 311 yards of total offense, 198 passing and 113 rushing. Saturday was the second fewest rushing yards allowed this season by the Bronchos.

The Bronchos will host Northeastern State at 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 25, at Chad Richison Stadium for Homecoming.

UCO Jackson College of Graduate Studies Alumna Honored for Academic Excellence

The UCO Jackson College of Graduate Studies (JCGS) awarded the E.C. Hall Outstanding Graduate Student Award for fall 2024 to Central alumna Masheli Samanta Bully. This award is presented to one graduate student each semester following graduation.

Bully, a dedicated scholar, artist and advocate for Indigenous representation in academia and media, completed her Master of Arts in English with a strong academic record and a body of work grounded in Indigenous literary theory and cultural reclamation.

She was nominated by the College of Liberal Arts as its fall 2024 E.C. Hall Scholar and was selected for the overall university award by the JCGS Graduate Council.

Faculty/Staff Homecoming Royalty Voting Open

Faculty/Staff Homecoming Royalty Voting is open until 9 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 22. Ten faculty and staff members will be recognized at the Bronze and Blueberry Breakfast from 8:30-10 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 22, in Plunkett Park. The top two candidates will receive the title of 2025 UCO Faculty and Staff Royalty.

 

Alumni Engagement Basket Giveaway at Bronze and Blueberry Breakfast

UCO Alumni Engagement is giving away two themed gift baskets to faculty and staff during the Bronze and Blueberry Breakfast Wednesday, Oct. 22. One basket features items from alumni-owned businesses and the other includes goodies from Gourmet Gallery.

To enter, visit the Alumni Engagement table and drop your business card in the bowl. Winners will be announced after Homecoming royalty are crowned. You must be present to win.

 

Labyrinth Walk, Oct. 21

The Dr. Virginia Peters Department of Kinesiology and Health Studies invites the UCO community to a labyrinth walk at 12:15 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 21, at the UCO Outdoor Labyrinth located near Evans Hall and the Y-Chapel. A labyrinth facilitator will be available with information and guidance. A walk on the UCO Outdoor Labyrinth is a great way to meet your MotUS goal for Out and About October.

ELA Mentor Meetup at Flatire Burgers, Oct. 21

O's Educators’ Leadership Academy (ELA) will host a luncheon from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 21, Wednesday, Nov. 19, and Tuesday, Dec. 16, at Flatire Burgers, 318 E. Ayers St., Edmond, exclusively for ELA alumni to reconnect with their mentors.
