Dear CC Community,

We are excited to announce that the Colorado Resiliency Arts Lab (CORAL) will run a study at Colorado College in the Spring semester. Held in collaboration with CC's Health & Wellbeing, Arts & Crafts, Creativity & Innovation, and the NEH Professorship, this program offers faculty and staff an opportunity to connect, explore, and reduce stress while contributing to current research.

About CORAL:

CORAL is based at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and is an interdisciplinary group of doctors, researchers, and creative arts therapists who have come together to improve resilience in healthcare workers. CORAL has conducted two randomized controlled trials demonstrating that their Creative Arts Therapy program improves participants' wellbeing. CORAL's upcoming study at CC extends this research into higher education.

About the Program

Starting in the Spring semester, CORAL will be offering Creative Arts Therapy sessions in tandem with the CC Arts and Crafts for Wellness program. Faculty and staff can choose from three participation options: the CORAL visual arts group, the CORAL writing group, or a series of CC Arts and Crafts for Wellness programs.

  • The CORAL programs run for 8 weeks, and meet on Tuesdays from 4:30-6:30 p.m., Feb. 17 through Apr. 14.
  • The CC Arts and Crafts for Wellness Program meets 12-2 p.m., on the fourth Wednesday and second Friday of each Block, beginning Friday, Jan. 30, and running through Wednesday, May 13.
  • We are accounting for Spring Break!
  • Each group will have a different meeting space on CC's campus. More information will be provided once sign-ups are complete.

Who Can Participate:

  • The study is open to all full-time staff and faculty members at CC. Participants will be required to attend at least six sessions and complete pre- and post-survey questionnaires.
  • No prior arts experience is required; the program is exploratory, using art as a vehicle for expression rather than instruction.
  • All study surveys are anonymous and will not be holistically shared beyond the study team.

How to Participate:

If you are interested, please complete an interest form. Space is limited.

Please reach out to CORAL's research manager, Aliza Anderson, with questions or concerns.
