Why Renew Your KCMS Membership?

If you’re practicing medicine today, you know the system is not working as it should. Physician burnout is rising, administrative burdens are out of control, corporate and non-clinical forces are shaping care, and physicians are losing autonomy in decisions they are uniquely trained to make.

Across King County, physicians are saying:

“This isn’t working.”

But what does work?
✨Doctors leading.
✨Doctors organizing.
✨Doctors pushing for accountability.
And that’s exactly what KCMS is delivering.

We are one of the few remaining independent, physician-led organizations able to push back, not symbolically, but with measurable impact. This year, KCMS physicians advanced action on prior authorization reform, strengthening vaccine systems, protecting access to care regardless of immigration status, firearm-injury prevention frameworks, and environmental public-health reform.

These accomplishments came from physicians who are speaking through KCMS.

We also know that most physicians do not have time to attend meetings, analyze policy, or wage administrative battles. And that is exactly why
KCMS will do the lifting for you. Your membership ensures that your voice is represented - we need your continued membership. Please renew your KCMS membership today.
Your support is your voice,  and together, let’s fix it.

A Message to Our Retired Physicians⭐

Some of our most active KCMS members are retired physicians. They bring  institutional memory, and the perspectives that decades of practice provides. Their insights shape our policy direction, grounds our advocacy in lived experience, and strengthens the physician voice at a time when it is needed most.
So, even if you’re retired and can’t attend meetings, join committees, or take on active roles — your membership still matters.

Renewing your retired membership:
  • Demonstrates your continued support for independent, physician-led advocacy
  • Helps KCMS remain a strong counterweight to forces shaping medicine
  • Signals that the profession stands together
  • Ensures that the physician voice — your voice — continues to have power

Please show your continued support by renewing your retired membership today.

Recognizing Organizations That Support Physician Voice

We appreciate Optum and Virginia Mason Franciscan Health for investing in KCMS memberships for all of their physicians.
Their commitment to their physicians underscores the importance of independent physician voice and meaningful physician advocacy in today’s complex healthcare landscape.

If your organization does not currently cover KCMS membership,  we encourage you to ask your leadership how this support might be extended to your team.
Collective participation amplifies the physician voice.

Help Us Evaluate Our Cervical Cancer Education Initiative
Over this year, KCMS has produced educational resources to support clinicians caring for patients with recurrent/metastatic cervical cancer—including short videos, workflow tools,  prior authorization toolkits, and downloadable clinical  content.

As we close this project, we invite you to take a follow-up survey.
You do not need to have completed the first baseline survey to participate.
🌟 However, if you did complete the initial baseline survey and complete this follow-up survey, you will be eligible for a $250 gift card drawing.

Your Voice Matters on Social Media

Scientists voices must remain visible on platforms like X, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Bluesky where misinformation can spread rapidly.
These platforms shape public understanding, influence policy discussions, and connect people to trustworthy information.
By sharing your expertise, supporting evidence-based messages, and amplifying KCMS initiatives, you strengthen the physician voice and help counter misinformation. Even a thumbs-up 👍 or quick “Okay” 👌 increases visibility and helps elevate credible content.
