FEATURED STORY

MotUS: Out and About in October

This month’s MotUS challenge is all about stepping outside and getting active in new ways! From Saturday, Oct. 4, through Friday, Oct. 31, your goal is to spend at least 15 minutes outside on 15 different days. Join the challenge and track your progress in YuMuuv and discover how much better you feel after a little fresh air.

To help you meet your goal, Wednesday Wellness Walks will continue in October. Both the 9 a.m. and noon walks will begin at Broncho Lake—an easy way to take a break, move your body and enjoy the outdoors.

Need more ideas? Consider stretching outside, walking the UCO outdoor labyrinth or signing up for the Homecoming Central 5K at 8 a.m., Oct. 19. The key is to get moving outside and notice the benefits—from better sleep and focus to improved mood and energy.

Find the YuMuuv app on the App Store or Google Play Store and use the signup code UCO-MOTUS to create your account. Be sure to complete the required waiver online.

Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2025

October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month and UCO's Office of Information Technology (OIT) wants the Central community to stay protected while connected.

Cybercriminals are using increasingly sophisticated methods, including AI-generated phishing emails to trick you into clicking malicious links, sharing sensitive information or downloading harmful attachments. Before you click, remember to:

  • Pause and verify the sender, as AI can make fake emails look real.
  • Hover over links to check where they really lead before clicking.
  • Watch for urgency as messages demanding immediate action are often red flags.
  • Avoid unexpected attachments.
  • Report suspicious emails using the Phish Alert Button in Outlook and Reporting Phishing in Gmail.

By staying alert and reporting suspicious messages, you help protect UCO’s systems, data and community. Learn more and find other Cybersecurity Awareness Month tips/tricks on the OIT Blog. Watch for tips in Centralities from OIT to help remain cyber smart.
