Popcorn and Buttered Toast
by Ashley Perkins
At about this time of year, I get excited about the holidays. I’m really a big kid at heart and I’m ready to put the tree up as soon as the turkey leaves the table. I secretly listen to Christmas carols in my car right after Halloween and get excited when the Charlie Brown specials start advertising on tv! My family harasses me to no end about my eagerness to celebrate. It’s not that I want to skip over Thanksgiving, it’s that I want to have Thanksgiving with all the decorations and music of Christmas!
But the message is not lost on me that I should be focused on my blessings.
The great news about the end of the year is that it signals the beginning of a new one and an opportunity to begin again. It’s a time to give thanks for the opportunities that we have been given and a time to think about how we maximize those opportunities in the coming year. It is also a time to stop and say, “thank you” to those people in our lives that offer us grace and give us support.
I’ll start with you right now. READ MORE

| Rotary Dues Increase - Jan. 1, 2023 - A Message from President Wes
Fellow Rotarians, At the Sept. 27 lunch meeting, we shared some news about a conversation that began over two years ago. Prior to the pandemic, it was clear to our administration committee, budget committee, and board of officers and directors that a dues increase would be necessary for the club to maintain a balanced budget. With the arrival of the pandemic, we were able to delay that conversation. As we’ve seen a return to normal club operations, meetings, and service, we’ve also seen an increase in almost every expense of the club due to inflation and we were forced to revisit the conversation. At the recommendation of our administration and budget committees, the 2021-2022 board of officers and directors approved a dues increase of $15 per quarter, or $5 a month, effective January 1, 2023.
