Dear UC San Diego Faculty,
Based on your feedback from the listening sessions hosted by OSI, the enhancements below are now available in the Faculty and Researcher Dashboard.
I will be hosting demos of the dashboard on the following dates: Sept 20 (4pm-5pm), Sept 22 (11am-12pm or 2pm-30m). Please join via this Zoom link if you would like to see the updates presented live. Alternatively, I'm happy to meet and review your data one-on-one; appointments can be scheduled via Calendly.
Sponsored Projects Balance Calculations: The dashboard displays the carryforward amount, budget, and costs for the current budget period only, and the balance is reflected as carryforward + budget – costs. This balance calculation is in alignment with how NIH defines budget and the carryforward calculation.
Spend Analytics: The dashboard displays % Budget Remaining and % Budget Period Remaining. The % Budget Remaining is equivalent to the carryforward percentage that must be reported on NIH progress reports, and the percentage displayed is calculated in alignment with NIH requirements.
Clinical Trials: Clinical trial awards has moved to a separate table that calculates a revenue-based balance and a cash balance rather than a budget-based balance.
Non-Sponsored Project Classification: A column has been added for the Project Class Code (ex. Service Agreements, Faculty Start-Up, GSGEI, etc.) to help you easily identify the purpose of each project.
Payroll Projections: A page has been added to the main report that shows payroll projections for everyone supported by your portfolio. This allows you to see the entirety of how each person is being supported, rather than just a project-centric viewpoint.
Award Status Filter: Select ACTIVE from the new Award Status filter at the top of the page to remove expired awards from the report.
Drillthrough Report Structure: The drillthrough reports that show detail for a given project or task have been broken up into three pages (Summary, Transaction Details, Payroll Details), minimizing scrolling and improving navigation.
Project Notes: Fund managers now have the ability to enter project notes in Oracle. A box has been added to the upper right corner of the drillthrough reports to display the most recent note entered.
Subaward Details: A new page has been added for Subaward Details to the project- and task-specific drillthrough reports. The page shows, by subaward, the original subaward amount, how much has been billed, how much remains, and information about each subaward invoice received. This will help you determine the status of your outgoing subawards.
Cost Detail Filtering: Cost details is filterable by Expenditure Category or Expenditure Type so you can find and view an exact transaction.
To view these and future enhancements, access the Faculty and Research Dashboard here. If your dashboard has inaccurate information displayed, please contact your department fund manager to make any necessary corrections within Oracle.
