Four Department of English scholars earn acclaim

Join the Department of English in celebrating four department members who presented their technical communication research at the IEEE International Conference on Professional Communication in Sønderborg, Denmark, in July. Research articles selected through a rigorous peer-review process.

  •  Amy Hodges for her paper “AI-Assisted Qualitative Coding: Comparing Human to Machine Outputs”
  • Sara Martin, PhD candidate, for her paper titled “Sounds Good: Dictation Software, Translingualism, and Multimodal Productivity”
  • Pacificah Mariita, PhD student, for her paper “The Evolution of Tactical Technical Communication: Digital Resistance and Kenyan Gen Z’s Redefinition of Grassroots Activism in the Digital Age”

A special congratulations goes to Gabriel Aguilar, who won the prestigious James M. Lufkin Award for his article “The Myth of Demography is Destiny.” Dr. Aguilar’s paper was recognized by a committee as the best paper submitted to the conference.
