CONGRATULATIONS OLIVIER ROUSTEING!
|
This year's Couture Council Artistry of Fashion Award honored Olivier Rousteing, creative director of French fashion house Balmain. The annual luncheon was held Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center in New York City. The award was presented by actor and singer Jeremy Pope. At the luncheon Rouseting said, "To the students of FIT, and to the people in this room, and to anyone who has a dream … let me leave you with a wish: Be confident. Be proud of where you come from. Believe in your voice, Believe in your instincts. Believe in your story. No one–no one–can take your dreams away. Be disruptive. Be the pioneers of the world you want to live in."
Enjoy photos from the event and from the conversation he had with Dr. Valerie Steele later that evening for FIT students.

Thursday October 23, 5:30 pm | FREE
The new book by Justine De Young, The Art of Parisian Chic: Modern Women and Modern Artists in Impressionist Paris, shows how modern women used fashion and stereotypes such as the Parisienne (chic Parisian woman) or the demoiselle de magasin (shopgirl) to construct and reinvent their identities. Author and FIT Associate Professor Justine De Young will be in conversation with Hilary Davidson, chair of FIT's MA program for Fashion and Textile Studies: History, Theory, Museum Practice, about how women were seen, how they aspired to be seen, and how they navigated public life in Second Empire and Belle Époque Paris.
