Relationshipsby Peggy Kates
Yesterday I read a devotional about relationships and it made me reflect on the relationships in my life, I thought about all the people in my life and the wide diversity of those relationships. I had an absolutely wonderful week – full of love, friendships – both old and new. My week began last Saturday at the Jameson family Cousin Christmas There were 57 of us present – we laughed, told stories, ate (the Jamesons are all wonderful cooks!). I left there thinking about how blessed I was to be a part of this heritage – to be a part of a family that loved one another – a family that showed respect and kindness to everyone regardless – the privilege to visit with my Aunt Carole, Aunt Phyllis, Uncle Hubert and Aunt Ramona – all of whom are over 80.
On Monday I had lunch with some very dear friends. There were our neighbors in Cashion and ono one could ask for better neighbors. Old friends that I cherish immensely. READ MORE

Rotary Club Dues Increase - Jan. 1, 2023 - A Message from President Wes
Fellow Rotarians,
At the Sept. 27 lunch meeting, we shared some news about a conversation that began over two years ago. Prior to the pandemic, it was clear to our administration committee, budget committee, and board of officers and directors that a dues increase would be necessary for the club to maintain a balanced budget. With the arrival of the pandemic, we were able to delay that conversation. As we’ve seen a return to normal club operations, meetings, and service, we’ve also seen an increase in almost every expense of the club due to inflation and we were forced to revisit the conversation. At the recommendation of our administration and budget committees, the 2021-2022 board of officers and directors approved a dues increase of $15 per quarter, or $5 a month, effective January 1, 2023. December/January 22-23 District Newsletter
Greetings Fellow Rotarians! The Rotary word for January is Connection! As I helped the West Oklahoma City Rotary Club hand out twenty-five scholarships in their December meeting, I saw and felt firsthand the “connection” these wonderful Rotarians had for each other and their community. I have felt this “Rotary Connection” time and time again across our 34 clubs as I visit. I have witnessed the pride and satisfaction that active clubs feel in the services they provide and the sheer joy of working together to make a difference in the quality of life of their communities. From this vantage point of helping our local communities while sharing our local values, we develop a “sense of purpose and meaning, accompanied by the personal payback of greater self-work and engagement with the wider community.” (“A Welcome Embrace”, Rotary Magazine – January 2023).
Connection with each other as Rotarians is very important. This feeling of belonging to a “Rotary Family” develops lifelong friendships and a true enjoyment of spending time together in rewarding service. In a recent finding on Club Service, “what has come across more than anything is the shared laughter and camaraderie, the feeling of being valued, listened to and that you matter.” (Ibid) As West Oklahoma City Rotarians say, “Don’t forget the 5th part of the 4-way Test” and then they yell out together “Is It Fun.” This makes me smile every time. I love the “Connection” we have to each other from Oklahoma City Clubs to Stillwater Clubs, to Ponca City, to Woodward, to Clinton, to Weatherford, and points in between. Thirty-four shining lights for Rotary.
Finally, I leave you with the words of our R.I. President Jennifer Jones again in the January 2023 issue of our Rotary Magazine, “The single most important factor in member satisfaction is the club experience. How at home you feel in your club, how rewarding club meetings are, and how engaged you feel in service projects.” Again, it’s the formula for a successful Rotary Family making a difference in the world. The Rotary word “Connection” is very important for the comfort and care of our members. In Rotary Service, Deena Fisher District Governor 2022-2023
