I'm looking forward to partnering with them to achieve great things for our students in 2023. I also want to thank outgoing Chair, Dr. Shonda Harris-Muhammed, and outgoing Vice-Chair, Ms. Kenya Gibson, for their leadership over the past year!

- I would like to post a shout-out to these individuals for making a surprise come true, right down to the last 2 hours. Ms. Brice, a local realtor, had 2 hours to close on a house for one of our employees who bought her mother a home for Christmas. It was the last day before X-mas break. With a limited number of people working, we pulled it off with the help of Nishawn Lee, Andrew Bishop, Alyson Davis, Van Shelton and Kimberla Dickerson. We made this happen as a team of RPS! With our teamwork, she became an owner of her new home. Hooray!
- Home Depot (Mechanicsville and North Richmond locations) donated foam tubes to RPS 5th grade science! They will be used by students to create the "tracks" for marble roller coasters to study force, motion, and energy this month.
- I would like to shout-out Mr. Andre Nious for all his help establishing new protocols at Blackwell Preschool. Your presence made all the difference!
- Special thanks to Lisa Armstead and Leroy Hatcher with Technology Services for quickly resolving my concerns with such patience and efficiency.
- Shout-out to Dana Fox, chief operating officer, for taking the charge as chief and easing my anxiety about returning to work with grace and professionalism. Thank you!
- Shout-out to every adult in RPS who provides a sanctuary in their classroom, office, cafeteria, media center, or gym for young people who are grieving, overwhelmed, or in crisis. Your kindness, concern, willingness to listen, and genuine desire to help are transformative. We know education workers change lives. It bears repeating: you are adding good to a world that so desperately needs it.
- Thank you to the staff and students at Oak Grove-Bellemeade Elementary School for collecting 127 pounds of peanut butter & jelly for the 2022 holiday season! This amazing donation will help FeedMore feed 105 families in the Richmond area! I appreciate each and every one of you for your donations and desire to help the people in our community! Special shout-out to Ms. Sebrina Davis for packing up the jars for delivery!
- Huge shout-out to Michelle Hudacsko and Latonya Leigh for organizing the 2022 RPS Winter Wonderland! This annual event has once again made the holiday season extra special for RPS students and families. Enormous gratitude to each RPS staff member who was able to contribute – it was truly a special gift! Here’s to continuing to help others all year long!
