October 2026

Field Notes

Harvest is here! Whether you were first in the field chopping silage or are warming up the combine to start on beans, fall's bounty is showing. October started off with plenty of moisture, but conditions look dry for the next week. Harvest can be a hectic time, but remembering details such as combine cleaning can prevent this year's weedy field from becoming another field's problem next year. Events in the area are slowing down to give ample time for fieldwork; however, start making your winter event plans as we have a slate of fantastic events nearby.

For those looking ahead to renewing their pesticide applicator licenses - training dates will be announced soon on the Wisconsin PAT Program's website. There will be approximately 5 dates in our region.

If you have any cover cropping or harvest questions, don't hesitate to reach out.

Be safe on the roads and in the field this harvest season!

Shout Out! Congratulations to Mark and Rachel Parker, lead farmers of the RichLand Legacy Alliance, for placing in the top 10 of the haylage category!
