Team Spotlight: Angie Eberhart
Angie Eberhart is the clinical director for population health at Dayton Children’s Hospital and Partners For Kids. She works with an interdisciplinary team to help primary care practices develop and implement quality improvement projects around children’s health outcomes. She has practiced as a family nurse practitioner for 25 years and worked in population health and value-based care for 10 years. She has a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Capital University, a master’s degree and a post-master’s degree from Wright State University, and a doctorate degree from The Ohio State University. Angie and her husband have two adult children. She loves her high-energy, 3-year-old Jack Russell mix.

Partners For Kids Featured in Pediatrics Nationwide
Partners For Kids’ Nicotine Prescribing Guidelines are highlighted in an article about treating tobacco dependence in adolescents. The guidelines serve as a resource for pediatric primary care providers, with information on nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) and other smoking cessation strategies. It also includes several assessment tools to help clinicians determine the level of nicotine dependence in their young patients.

Registration Open for Annual Administrative Retreat
Partners For Kids is hosting the 6th annual retreat for practice administrators and office managers, “How a Practice Administrator Can Impact a Practice’s Success.” This virtual event will be held Friday, June 21. The first session covers how to increase your impact on your team by learning how to communicate with influence. Participants will learn five influencing styles and how to effectively leverage each style to achieve their objective. Register by May 17 to ensure your retreat materials arrive on time.

Partners For Kids Provider Portal Now Includes Humana and AmeriHealth Data
Partners For Kids is now receiving Humana Healthy Horizons medical and drug claims, and AmeriHealth Caritas medical claims. Please note we are still missing Molina and AmeriHealth drug data, as well as OhioRise data from all managed care plans. We hope to have Molina drug claims available mid-March 2024.

New Tool to Overcome Access Barriers to Spacer-Compatible Inhaled Steroids
Since the discontinuation of brand name Flovent®, there have been many challenges with patient access to spacer-compatible inhaled steroids that are appropriate for children with asthma. In response, Partners For Kids has created a pathway to guide decision-making when prescribing inhaled steroids for children. This resource includes standard language to assist with communication to insurance companies if a prior authorization is requested.

If a provider is credentialed through Partners For Kids, we need to notify the Managed Care Plans when there is a change. Examples of changes include a provider termination or retirement, new providers joining Partners For Kids, capacity updates, practice location changes and change to a practitioner’s collaborating physician.
