Make the most of Workday through these tips related to FAQs.
|
-
Time Off vs. Leave: Unsure Which to Use? Personal days typically fall under Time Off—not Leave.
-
How Often to Submit Time: When hourly employees and student workers enter their time, it will save automatically. Employees can submit their time daily or weekly, whichever works best for them.
-
Understanding Overtime Pay: When hourly employees enter time worked, the Overtime Pay field (located in the Details section) is automatically set to Yes. When this option remains selected, any hours worked over 40 in a workweek will be paid as overtime. If Overtime Pay is set to No, hours worked over 40 will be converted to compensatory time instead of overtime pay. If you normally receive overtime pay, be sure this field remains set to Yes. If you are unsure whether your overtime should be paid or converted to comp time, please check with your supervisor.
- Supporting Documentation: When uploading supporting documentation in Workday, keep in mind that files are visible to all individuals involved in that specific business process. Only upload final, relevant materials that are appropriate for everyone included in the process to view.

What does Unit Initiator mean in Workday? |
Unit Initiators are employees authorized to start business processes on behalf of their department (like hiring or organizational chart changes). They were previously known as E-Form initiators.
If you’re unsure who your Unit Initiator is, you can find this information in Workday:
|
- Select your Profile in the top-right corner and choose View Profile.
- Open the Job tab.
- Select Support Roles at the top of the page (you may need to use the More dropdown to see this option).
-
Review the listed support roles to identify your Unit Initiator.
