Thank you for registering for BYM Annual Session. Many hands are hard at work on all the final details, and we can't wait to see you in Frederick or online next week.

For Friends attending in-person, our Pre-Arrival Information, below, has all the details you need to get ready for our week of fun, fellowship, and friendship. 

 

BYM Annual Sessions kickoff on Monday, July 27 with our pre-sessions retreat, led by Nadine Hoover, followed by the official start of Meeting for Worship for the Conduct of Business on Tuesday, July 28th at 2:00pm. 

 

Stay tuned for your copy of the Daily Minute, arriving to your inbox Tuesday through Saturday of next week to keep you up to date on business agendas, scheduling changes, room assignments, and all the goings-on at Annual Session. Pre-Arrival Info for
In-Person Attendees at BYM Annual Session

Arrival Information: When you arrive on campus, you will need to stop by the BYM Registration Desk, located in the lobby of Blazer Hall during the hours listed below. If you arrive at a different time, feel free to join the scheduled adult activities - including meals - until the next registration time. If you will be arriving after the Registration Desk has closed for the day, please text or call the Registrar at 717-696-7914 (no sooner than the first day of Annual Session) with your anticipated arrival time so a Committee Member can arrange to meet you at Blazer Hall. 

Starting in 2025, Flexible Arrival is no longer available. You must pick up your keys during registration desk hours or by contacting the After Hours Registrar  by voice or text at: 717-696-7914

Monday:  12:00pm – 2:30pm; 6:30pm – 7:30pm
Tues-Sat: 8:45am - 9:15am; 12:30pm - 2:00 pm; 4:30pm - 5:30pm; 6:30pm - 7:15pm

Checking Children into JYM: Before you arrive to Annual Session, please take a moment to complete a Junior Yearly Meeting Permission Packet for each child you have registered for Annual Session, including high school aged participants. Additional information about JYM for nursery, elementary, and junior high aged participants will be sent to you by email next week. Please plan to leave yourself extra time to check your child in on the first day you attend JYM. 

Children must be signed in and out of each JYM activity by a parent or designated adult. Children may not be unsupervised on campus and are expected to be checked-in at JYM or under the direct supervision of a parent or designated adult at all times.

Housing Information: All bedrooms have one or two single beds and a matching number of desks, chests of drawers, and closets. Two or three bedrooms are arranged within a semi-suite that shares a bathroom. Each dorm resident will receive: a pillow, a blanket, two sheets, one pillowcase, two towels, and a washcloth. Air conditioning in each room is adjustable only between 68-72 degrees, so please bring an extra blanket or warm pajamas. Please note that children 7 and under are not guaranteed their own bed. Parents with young children should plan to bring a cot, travel crib, or sleeping bag. Children 8 and up are assigned their own bed. While Hood College charges BYM full price for children 8+, BYM is proud to make their registration free of charge for families. 

Other things you may wish to bring: Alarm clock, desk lamp, bath mat, bathrobe, shower shoes, hangers, toiletries, extra pillows/blanket/towel, umbrella, laptop for connecting with online participants. Laundry soap. Free laundry facilities are available on-site. 

Travel & Parking: Hood College is located at 401 Rosemont Ave, Frederick, MD. Follow signs to Blazer Hall, where you can park and  pick up your Welcome Packet and dorm key from the BYM Registration Desk. You may find it helpful to point your GPS directly to: “Blazer Hall 541 Coffman Chapel Drive, Frederick, MD.” During your stay, Friends may park in any of the college parking lots except where specifically restricted by signs. Access to Blazer parking may be a different route in than in prior years due to campus construction - detour signs will be posted. 

Accessible Transportation: BYM Golf carts travel between the dorms and Annual Session buildings before and after all scheduled activities.  Contact information is available at the Information Desk. 

Checking Out: When you depart Annual Session, we are asked to strip the beds and place all used linens and towels on the floor outside the door to signal to Hood staff that the room is unoccupied for housekeeping. Rooms should be tidy and free of excess trash. Please be sure to return your keys to the Key Return Box located on the info desk. BYM will be charged $50 for every key that is not returned.
