About UW–Madison Extension Human Development & Relationships Institute (HDRI)

The Extension Institute of Human Development & Relationships provides the tools Wisconsinites need to thrive as well-rounded, capable individuals and families. We support families in caring for each other in ways that promote growth and understanding. Our programs promote aging-friendly communities, coach effective parents and help families put technology, mindfulness, and financial awareness to use.

Money Matters LIVE: Spending Plans & Budgeting

This workshop provides simple ways to track your spending, set goals, and build a budget that works for you and your family.

Resilient Co-Parenting: Co-Parenting Teens

Mar 5, 2026 | 7pm | Virtual

Teenagers need ongoing support to grow into happy, healthy adults. Learn cooperative co-parenting techniques to help your teen build positive family relationships, a healthy lifestyle, and community connections. 

 

Focus on Fathers: Fathers Teach Kindness

Telling kids to “be kind” isn’t enough—kindness is something they learn. This class helps fathers teach empathy, compassion, and caring through everyday moments. Join us and help your child grow into a kind and thoughtful person.

Raising WI’s Children: Learning Life Skills Through Household Chores

RENT Smart

Mar 7, 14, 21, 28, 2026 (Weekly Saturdays) | 9am | Virtual

This workshop provides practical financial strategies and tools to support individuals who are planning or even currently renting.

Triple P Program – Tweens & Teens 

Mar 14 - Apr 14, 2026 (Weekly Tuesdays) | 9am OR 6pm | Virtual

This program aims to support and help parents with children ages 12-16. Classes provide participants a toolbox of strategies to raise confident and healthy teens.

 

UW–Madison Extension Dane County Family & Finance

 
 

The Family Engagement and Relationships (FER) program at UW–Madison Extension Dane County support strong family engagement and other interpersonal relationships that significantly contribute to the health and well-being of individuals, communities, and economics. Extension provides well-researched, quality information and programs to further support parenting and family relationships. The Financial Education Program at UW–Madison Extension of Dane County helps families and individuals to achieve financial well-being, reach for financial goals, planning for life’s unexpected events, and build a secure financial future.

Calling All Wisconsin Early Childcare Professionals!

 

UW–Madison Division of Extension’s Parenting and Family Relationships Institute is excited to offer in-person workshops for Wisconsin’s Early childhood educators! Join us to dive deep into the science of emotion regulation and gain strategies and tools to support young children’s socioemotional development. Earn 5 CEUs for participating in our full-day workshop!

Tax-Filing Support for Low-Income, Older Adults & Those With Limited English

 

Tax returns can be beneficial, financial support for individuals and families. According to IRS, the tax-filing deadline will be April 15! The Richard Dilley Tax Center (VITA) located on 2238 S. Park Street is available to support low-income, older adults and those with limited English!

 

Appointments are required and spots are filling up quickly! More information about the site or for tax support can be found on Dane County Extension website!
