It's getting busier up here in Maine!
The birds have returned and are chirping, the critters have come out of hibernation, and people are emerging from their cozy homes now that the weather is a little warmer. And suddenly there are art exhibit receptions to attend, sometimes back-to-back, and my calendar is filling up as I decide which same-day events to attend. Apparently this is the seasonal way of life in the colder latitudes.
The painting above, Shoreboats, is one of several I am currently exhibiting. I painted these 3 small boats after a visit to one of the working docks I found when I first moved here last fall. A young man was selling the white boat to one of two other men and offered to let him try it out. I watched as they struggled to free the boat from “the only rock on the beach for it to fetch on”, as described by the seller.
