November Update

One of the best months of the year is here! November means snowmaking can begin and opening day is just around the corner on November 20! In just a few weeks we will all be sharing our first turns of the season and inaugural rides on the new Quantum Six and Evergreen Summit Express chairlifts.

Tomorrow, November 4, we will be gathering virtually to kick off the 2021-22 season. We are looking forward to welcoming you back to Okemo!

Welcome, Steve Clark!

We are excited to announce Steve Clark as our new Director of Skier Services at Okemo! Steve comes to us from Eagle County, Colorado where he was the Location Manager of the Vail Ski & Snowboard School leading the teams at both Vail Village and Golden Peak. He also has worked as a Product Manager in his career overseeing the day-to-day operations at the Lionshead base area. During the past couple of years, he has been a Captain of the Commitment to Zero program and led interdepartmental teams at Vail Mountain. Steve has been at Vail since 2007 and spent a year in Park City.

Steve graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2003 and grew up in Hanover, Mass. He learned to ski in New Hampshire at Waterville Valley. In addition to his love of skiing and snowboarding, Steve is an avid golfer and was a member of the UConn Men’s Golf Team. In his free time, Steve loves to mountain bike and fish, anything to be outdoors. Steve is relocating to the Green Mountains on November 15 with his girlfriend Alisha and their dog George.

Return Welcome Back Webinar tomorrow!

Join us tomorrow at 6 pm on Microsoft Teams! We will be meeting virtually to allow all staff to attend this mandatory meeting to get the season started. Our packed agenda for the night includes department updates, safety topics, inclusivity at Okemo, training opportunities, and wellness.

Where: Microsoft Teams (optional: you can download the app to your computer or mobile device in advance for a better viewing experience. If you choose not to download, you can still view in a browser on your device.)

- First-year return staff are required to attend a 1-day on-snow training session

- Second-year return staff and up can attend elective on-snow options in December. Please check instructor.snow.com for training sessions once you are active.

PSIA-E Early Season Education Opportunities

Get a jump start on your season with a PSIA-E webinar! This is a great way to sharpen your mind for winter, learn something new or unexpected and meet your update requirements. Several pre-recorded options are available to watch anytime free of charge, while options that result in CEUs range from $15-20.

Submit Your Proof of Vaccination

As you are brought back to active status for the winter season and receive your onboarding paperwork through EpicEmployee, you will be prompted to submit your proof of vaccination. The submission process should only take 5 minutes and must be done before you join us on-snow. Submissions are being verified and there is a high volume at the moment, so it may take a week or so to go through to final approval. This is common right now. You can submit your proof of vaccination at the top of the EpicEmployee homepage.
