Class of 2024

  • FAFSA Issues - So many issues coming forward with the launch of the new FAFSA this year.  Rest assured you are not alone if you are having issues!  Make sure to following the Federal Student Aid 
    2024–25 FAFSA Updates page for continued updates on what is happening and adjustments that are being made both with the FAFSA and with colleges.

  • Which colleges are extending their decision deadlines? — At least 190 U.S. colleges have postponed their commitment deadlines for the 2024-25 academic year amid federal financial aid delays, according to the National Association for College Admission Counseling. NACAC recently released a public directory of the enrollment deadlines of its member colleges. Although the list isn’t comprehensive — as it only includes information submitted by NACAC members — it offers a glimpse into how colleges nationwide are grappling with an abbreviated financial aid timeline.   • How to Combat Senioritis - Read this fun and hopefully helpful article in which one high school senior shares her experience and her tips to help keep the motivation up.

  • VOLUNTEER HOURS! Don't forget that a requirement for all seniors is to complete and turn in a minimum of 20 service hours. These hours need to have been completed starting June 10, 2023 and must be served somewhere in the community (outside of your family).  Please make sure to turn in your hours to the front office. Forms available in Mrs. Reinmuth's office or on our website. Reminder - if everyone has their hours turned in by May 1, Mrs. Reinmuth will throw you a root beer float party!

Class of 2025

  • SAT Prep - Khan Academy® has partnered directly with College Board to help students focus on the exact skills they need to succeed on the digital SAT. With Khan Academy's digital SAT test prep course, students can sharpen their skills with thousands of practice questions, videos, lessons, and hints, plus test-taking tips and strategies. Don't miss out on this FREE opportunity to prep for the upcoming SAT test!

  • Calling all high school juniors to Junior Dawg Day! This University of Washington virtual event is designed exclusively for students who will be submitting their college applications in the fall of 2024. Encourage your students to join the University of Washington for Junior Dawg Day, where they’ll learn more about the application process, holistic review and the steps they can take now to prepare to apply this fall. Current students will be on hand to talk about what it’s really like to be a Husky, and we’ll save time for questions, of course.

  • Headed to college? Read this article for a AWESOME checklist on what you should be working on during your sophomore year.  Now is the time to start planning your future!

  • VOLUNTEER HOURS! Don't forget that a requirement for all sophomores is to complete and turn in a minimum of 10 service hours. These hours need to have been completed starting June 10, 2023 and must be served somewhere in the community (outside of your family).  Please make sure to turn in your hours to the front office. Class of 2027

  • Headed to college? Read this article for a AWESOME checklist on what you should be working on during your sophomore year.  Now is the time to start planning your future!

  • Keep Your Grades Up!  If you are planning to attend college in the future, don't let your grades start slipping now!  Remember, everything that you do now counts towards your future college admissions, so make sure to keep up on your classwork.

  • PNACAC Spring College Fair!  Saturday, April 27, 2024 9am-12pm @ Seattle University's Redhawk Center.  Free and open to the public, PNACAC fairs connect you with colleges and universities (95+ represented!) in one convenient location. Students should register in advance with StriveScan by filling out a quick form. After you sign up, StriveScan will send a barcode via text message and email. At the college fair, present your barcode to college representatives to receive more information about that college. The next day, receive an email with a report of all of the colleges and representatives you met, along with contact information and social media profiles.   • Ever considered a Military pathway to college?  Read this article!  'So many pathways': Military recruiters tout broader opportunities to get a college education -- even through part-time military service.

  • CLEP Testing - Ever heard of CLEP testing?  Did you know this is a great, inexpensive way for students to check off some of those college credits?  For over 50 years, the College-Level Examination Program® (CLEP) has offered exams at a fraction of the price of a college course, saving you hundreds of dollars. CLEP exams let you test out of introductory courses and move to more advanced courses sooner, saving time toward your degree. Learn more at clep.collegeboard.org/.

  • College or Trade School? How About Both?  Read this great article about how to go about learning a trade and building your best future!

  • Find a Career Role Model!  Here is a great article about finding a career role model and the difference it can make if your student is planning to pursue a job in a technical field. Internships, job shadows, and apprenticeships are great ways to find those career role model.

  • Looking for an alternative to college?  We want all our students to have a great career path when they leave SCA and for some students that does not involve college!  Here is a great article about some alternatives to college and how to decide which one is right for you.   • Did you know you can explore future careers based on what kind of eduction  your want to pursue after high school, or by pay level, or a multitude of other options?  Check out the Occupational Outlook Handbook through the US Bureau of Labor Statistics for more information. 
  • FREE MONEY! My motto is that you won't receive scholarship money if you don't apply!  Several upcoming scholarships are currently located on our website.  Make sure to check back often. So many scholarships have been added recently!
