Research Security and Integrity Training

The Office of Research Integrity will soon be announcing and describing research security and integrity (RSI) training for all members of the research community who participate or intend to participate in sponsored research and sponsored scholarly activities at or for the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC). As mandated by the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022, several federal agencies have already begun implementing requirements for training at the time of application. ‘Beginning in May 2025, organizations must certify that all covered individuals have completed the required security training.’ Further information will be shared in the ORI announcement.

Data Management and Sharing

Abigail Goben, MLS, Professor and Data Management Librarian, University Library and Data Policy Advisor, Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, is presenting ‘Research in Practice – Navigating the NIH Data Management and Sharing Policies’ for the Vitoux Program on Clinical Research for Equitable Health Seminar Series: Nuts and Bolts in Clinical Research-Funding, Operations and Discoveries on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 from 12:00-1:00pm in 402 CSN Conference Room or via Zoom. International Travel 

The UIC Office of International Services posted ‘Important FAQs to Consider Before Traveling Outside the US’. The Office notes that ‘members of the UIC international community should carefully consider the complex and changing context of U.S. immigration before booking trips or departing the country’.

Fellowship Applications

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) posted an alert regarding the FORMS-H application packages for use by applicants for the parent Fellowship opportunities beginning with the April 8 due date.

UIC Library Training 

The research community is invited to visit the UIC Library Spring 2025 Workshops website for descriptions and registration details. Workshops include, but are not limited to the following: 1) Digital Publishing at UIC on Tuesday, March 25; 2) Scholarly Publishing on Wednesday, April 2; 3) Research Impact Metrics on Thursday, April 10; 4) Creating Biosketches for NSF & NIH using SciENcv on multiple dates; and 5) Bibliometric Visualization of Research on Tuesday, May 13.
