Property owners in Orange County will get new property values this week, and the county tax administrator is preparing them for big increases in value.

The rise is attributed to the thriving real estate market, where homes are being sold at significantly higher prices throughout the county. These property value increases are unprecedented in Orange County. Home values have risen significantly in the last four years —around 52% countywide.

Drakeford Library Complex Grand Opening on March 21

The grand opening celebration of the Drakeford Library Complex located at 203 S. Greensboro St. will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 21. While the facility has been open to the public, the event to mark its completion is cause for celebration. The grand opening will feature a ribbon cutting, remarks by special guests including members of the Drakeford Family, and tours of the building. Refreshments will be provided by Neal’s Deli and Open Eye Café.

Emergency Management Program for Girls Grades 9-12

No Mow March

The 2025 North Carolina Emergency Management Experience (NCEM) is a program designed to encourage young women in grades 9-12 to explore careers in emergency management and public safety. The workshop will take place from June 23-27, 2025 and will be hosted at the NC State Emergency Operations Center in Raleigh. There is no cost for students to participate in the program.
