CSU Telecommuting Program Update
Sacramento State has been participating in the CSU Telecommuting Program since January 2022!
The Spring Semester 2023 has ended, and many current telecommuting agreements are scheduled to expire at the end of this month. As this is a voluntary and employee-initiated program, employees who wish to continue to telecommute must submit a new request to their appropriate administrator. Requests may be submitted for a maximum 1-year timeframe (Example – 06/01/2023 to 05/31/2024).
NOTE: Divisions have the discretion to establish a shorter timeframe. Therefore, employees should verify with their leadership before submitting a request. The appropriate administrator will consider the request and may approve or deny based on operational feasibility.
Human Resources reviews agreements initiated by the employee and approved by the appropriate administrator to ensure they comply with the negotiated CSU Telecommuting Program.
PARTICIPATING EMPLOYEE GROUPS
The following employee groups are eligible to participate: MPPs, Non-Represented employees, CSUEU, and APC represented employees.
REMINDER: Only employees with Telecommuting Agreements reviewed by Human Resources/Employee & Labor Relations are authorized to work off-site. It is the employee’s responsibility to initiate telecommuting agreements and renewals, if applicable.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Listed below are high-level questions and answers that may help provide context and scope to this program. Please review and visit the

How can employees submit requests to telecommute?
Employees must submit telecommuting requests through OnBase. A link to this form can be found on the HR Telecommuting page.
Why did HR reject my telecommuting agreement? What was wrong with it?
Forms will be rejected for being incomplete and/or out of compliance.
Common Examples: unsigned/unclassified Position Descriptions were attached; end date exceeds one year; non-MPP signed as Appropriate Administrator; not submitted through the correct workflow. Requests for telecommuting are now routed through OnBase.
Do I need to keep reattaching my Position Description for each agreement?
Yes! This is part of the terms of the CSU Telecommuting Program, and we need a complete [signed and classified!] position description for each individual request.
The form is not user friendly – can you please change it?!
No, we cannot change the form as it was negotiated at the systemwide level.
Who can I go to with questions?
Please start with your appropriate administrator. If you need additional help, feel free to reach out to your assigned ELR Representative or elr@csus.edu.
