Second, LMU CIBE contributed again to the 2025 Foreign Direct Investment in California report with a special analysis on the California business environment with new criteria for foreign investors. This collaboration with World Trade Center Los Angeles stresses LMU’s role in providing critical insights to foreign investors and supporting California’s economic development.
Third, in collaboration with Florida International University’s CIBER, we launched a new Faculty Development in International Business (FDIB) program in Costa Rica. This immersive program allowed participants to engage with Costa Rican businesses and institutions, advancing new course development and research in sustainability, trade, and entrepreneurship.
Finally, LMU students participated in transformative global experiences, organized by EAFIT University in Colombia, that enhanced their cross-cultural skills and leadership capacity.
These achievements reflect LMU CIBE’s mission to connect theory to practice and prepare globally-minded leaders. We look forward to your continued support and hope you’ll join us in our upcoming programs!

Lecture Explores a Contested Asia |
On January 27, LMU welcomed Professor Michael Green, CEO of the United States Studies Centre, for a lecture examining the U.S.’s evolving role in Asia. While the 2024 election raised questions about America’s global direction, Professor Green emphasized that Asia policy continues to be one of the few areas of bipartisan consensus in Washington. He traced the history of U.S. engagement in the region, assessed today’s challenges from China, Russia, and North Korea, and considered how America can adapt its strategy moving forward.

| LMU Student Interns at Department of Commerce |
Each year, LMU CIBE selects students to receive funding for unpaid or underpaid internships related to international business. This year, CIBE supported several students, including Max Donahoe from LMU's Master in Global Entrepreneurial Management (MGEM) program. Donahoe interned with the U.S. Department of Commerce.
|
|
|
The internship focused on supporting U.S. companies as they expanded into international markets. Donahoe collaborated with clients across a variety of industries, primarily technology and education, to identify export opportunities and craft global strategies. One of his most memorable projects involved Avanti, a company that is developing self-driving vehicle technology. Their cars were deployed in an Eastern European country to offer tours of small towns and Donahoe contributed to positioning this innovation for international partners. Reflecting on the experience, Donahoe said, “This project showed me the role American companies play in advancing global industries and how U.S. technology can have a lasting impact abroad.”
