I am pleased to announce that we have launched searches for two dean positions, one in the College of Nursing and Health Innovation (CONHI) and the other in our Honors College.
We are committed to finding dynamic leaders who will head their respective colleges’ academic and administrative functions, set their strategic direction, build upon their current foundations, and chart courses for continued growth and innovation.
The search committees will conduct national searches to identify highly qualified candidates. We encourage your active participation in these processes. More details on both positions are available on UTA’s Executive Searches webpage.
CONHI
CONHI is a three-time designated National League for Nursing Center of Excellence, has the largest nonprofit college of nursing in the U.S., and remains the largest producer of baccalaureate-prepared nurses in Texas. Building on this strong nursing program, CONHI seeks further transformation into a nationally recognized leader in health innovation through its growing kinesiology and public health programs.
Ming-Han Li, dean of the College of Architecture, Planning, and Public Affairs, is chairing the search committee, which includes faculty, staff, and student representatives from CONHI.
I thank Dean Elizabeth Merwin for her leadership of CONHI since 2019. CONHI successfully completed its 10-year accreditation process, established the Center for Rural Health and Nursing, and moved students, faculty, and staff into the state-of-the-art Smart Hospital during this time. We look forward to her continued service to CONHI and UTA as a member of the faculty and appreciate her assistance in serving as dean through this transition.
Honors College
The Honors College plays a vital role in fostering academic excellence and intellectual curiosity among our most promising students. It is home to more than 950 students working toward honors degrees in their major disciplines. The successful candidate must demonstrate an outstanding capacity to lead Honors’ broad academic, research, and creative activities while articulating an engaging vision for the future.
John Wang, dean of UTA Libraries, is chairing the search committee, which includes faculty, staff, and student representatives from and affiliated with Honors. Thank you to Elizabeth Newman, dean of the College of Liberal Arts, who has been serving as interim dean of Honors since January.
I look forward to sharing updates on these searches and appreciate your support and collaboration. I am confident that, through your support and UTA’s rising prominence in higher education, we will find the right candidates for these roles.
