The Dallas Morning News and UTA have teamed up on a panel discussion about the upcoming total solar eclipse, in which the path of totality will travel directly across the Dallas-Fort Worth area for the first time in 400 years. “Exploring the Eclipse: A UTA Planetarium Panel Discussion” will feature four UTA faculty members in a conversation moderated by Adithi Ramakrishnan, a science reporting fellow at The Dallas Morning News. The discussion, which is free and open to the public, is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 19, at the UTA Planetarium. RSVP at the UTA Planetarium website.

UTA special education Associate Professor Ambra Green and Assistant Professor John Romig are working to help meet the demand in special education with Project R.E.A.D.Y.–Initial Certification, a program that prepares early intervention and special education personnel for careers serving children with disabilities who have high-intensity needs.

| Wear red and flowers in support of Heart Health Awareness Month and this year's theme of belongingness and connection. Participate in the annual Heart Walk Friday, Feb. 9, at 10 a.m. in the Library Mall. You can also join online through the Living Well Platform. Point tracking will be available for a week starting on the day of the Heart Walk. Participant photos can be shared on social media with #UTHeartWalk or via wellness@uta.edu.

| Temporary road closure near Maverick Stadium
|
The Office of Facilities Management has scheduled the temporary closure of the road adjacent to Studio Arts and Maverick Stadium’s east side. The road closure, set for Tuesday Feb. 13, 7 a.m.-7 p.m., is necessary to facilitate the operation of a mobile crane, which will be utilized to replace an air conditioning unit. During this time, personnel will be stationed to monitor and direct pedestrian traffic.

To provide a safe environment for UTA students, faculty, staff, and guests, the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) has created the Building Emergency Safety Team (BEST) program. OEM is asking deans, directors, and department heads to appoint a primary BEST program coordinator, who will serve as the point of contact for a unit, department, or building in the area of emergency preparedness and safety. | Recruit underclassmen, graduating seniors, graduate students, and alumni for full-time positions, part-time positions, co-ops, and internships at the All Majors Job and Internship Fair. More than 1,000 students and alumni are expected to attend the job fair, set for Wednesday, March 6, 12-4 p.m., in the Maverick Activities Center. Registration ends Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 5 p.m.
