FOCUS | New Student Orientations

Your Alumni Engagement team has been visiting new student orientations across the Floyd School of Medicine. At orientation, we introduce students to the strength of our alumni family and share how our graduates stay engaged with the school. We also highlight the support our team offers throughout their journey, including opportunities that connect students with alumni for encouragement, insight, and community.

Above all, we want every student to feel at home and welcomed when they arrive.
Next up is Nurse Anesthesia's orientation in December, followed by the Physician Assistant orientation next semester.

INVEST | MD White Coat & Stethoscope Results

picture of the M1 class at their white coat ceremony
For the fourth year in a row, our alumni absolutely shined for our students! In less than four weeks, 63 donors came together to raise $22,095, ensuring every member of the MD Class of 2030 received a white coat and stethoscope.
In late July, students learned who their sponsors are, and your notes of encouragement brought an extra spark to an already unforgettable White Coat Ceremony. We are truly inspired by the generosity and spirit of our alumni family because year after year, you continue to show our students what it means to be part of this community.
NA ALUMNI: we feel your energy too! Our next student–support tradition, the Scrub Cap Campaign, launches in January, and we can't wait to celebrate your impact once again.
THANK YOU, ALUMNI, FOR SUPPORTING OUR STUDENTS!

REFOCUS | Alumni Awards Update

The Floyd Awards Ceremony will be postponed until further notice.
We are preparing for the arrival of Dean Dwyer on September 1 and beginning to align our programs with his leadership and emerging vision for alumni engagement. As part of this transition, we are pausing our annual Alumni Awards Ceremony, traditionally held each October in partnership with the Dean's Distinguished Service Awards, while we evaluate the best timing and format moving forward. This intentional pause ensures the celebration reflects our strategic priorities and honors alumni excellence in a meaningful way.
Nominations for the 2026 Alumni Awards remain open and will be accepted through February 5. We encourage you to submit outstanding alumni whose impact deserves recognition.
We look forward to sharing more once plans are finalized. Thank you for your continued support of our alumni community.
