Best of luck to the dance team competing at state on Friday, December 2 at Wells Fargo Arena. The team will compete in Jazz, Pom and Lyrical, and the following individuals will compete as soloists: Abby O'Hara, Evelyn Mazur, Charlotte James, Jolissa Thomas, Brooklyn Coen, Brooklyn O'Conner and Caroline Maucieri. Go Maroons! 
The DCHS community kicked off the Advent season today at the Annual President's Christmas Luncheon. Guests enjoyed entertainment from the DCHS instrumental chamber music ensembles and jazz choir and remarks from our student speakers, seniors Jaz Paz and Max Dirks. Thanks to these talented students for sharing their gifts with our community!

Winter Play
The Performing Arts Department will present Puss 'N Boots in the DCHS auditorium on Friday, Dec. 2 and Saturday, Dec. 3 at 7:30 pm. Purchase tickets online.
 
Christmas Baskets
The annual Christmas Basket service project will help more than 90 local families in need this holiday season. The project is led by seniors and fueled with donations from our families, faculty, staff and the greater community. If you would like to help, please consider donating online. Students will use the donations to purchase groceries, toiletries, household items, clothing and gifts. Thank you for supporting our students through this longstanding DCHS tradition!

Yearbook Photos Class of 2023
The deadline to submit senior photos for the yearbook is Dec. 1. Photos must be submitted via email. Please click here for requirements. 
Students must check the list outside room 609 to make sure their photo was received. Please allow one week for the list to be updated.
March for Life
Students for Life will be sending a group of students to the March for Life through Pulse Life Advocates. If your student would like to participate, please have them email Mr. Fernholz or stop in room 403 for more information.
Parent Presentation
All parents are invited to attend a presentation hosted by the Urbandale Community School District entitled What parents need to know about Fentanyl. The event will be held at 6:30 pm on Jan. 17 at the Urbandale High School Performing Arts Center.
Drake University Physics Prize
DCHS students sophomores, juniors and seniors are invited to participate in the 2023 Drake Physics Prize Examination.  A variety of awards are available and the first place award is an unrestricted four-year, full-tuition scholarship to Drake University!
Nonpublic Transportation Reimbursement - Dec. 1 Deadline
Families who live more than three miles, one-way from DCHS may be eligible for a nonpublic transportation reimbursement. Forms must be submitted each semester (by Dec. 1 & May 1) according to district requirements. Eligible families will receive one check following the end of the year. Instructions are available here

Adoration
Parents are invited to attend adoration in the chapel offered weekly on Monday (8 am-2:45 pm) and Tuesday- Friday (11 am – 1 pm).

Immerse Education Essay Competition
Develop your academic writing skills with the chance to win a 100% scholarship to attend an Immerse Education program in Oxford, Cambridge or London. There are 30+ different subjects to choose from. Junior Achievement Virtual Career Fair

College Planning Night - Save the Date
The Sophomore College Planning Night will be held on Jan. 23 from 6-7 pm in the auditorium. Parents/students are invited to learn more about the college search process. 
The Junior College Planning Night on Jan. 23 from 7-8 pm will focus on the financial aid side of the college search process. Parents/students are welcome to attend. Note: Junior/sophomore families are welcome to attend both sessions.  
College Visit Reminders
Parents/guardians should complete the College Visit form at least two days prior to a visit. Juniors/seniors are allowed two excused visit days per year; sophomores/freshmen are allowed one. Upon return students should print or forward confirmation to attendance@dowlingcatholic.org. It is never too early to start exploring different options!
College Savings Plan Parent Giveaway
Visit the Parent Handbook guide on the Iowa Student Loan website to register for a random drawing of $1,000 deposit into a College Savings Iowa Account (529 deposits). Twenty-five awards are available!

FEB 9: Evening of Style
Enjoy an evening of fashion, food and fun! Groups of eight decorate their table with a theme of choice. Only 30 tables are available and this event does sell out. You can reserve your table even if you haven’t confirmed your group. The event will be held at St. Boniface Church. Proceeds benefit the Bash on Buffalo.
