Spring at Okemo
Off-season Wellness
Well, ski season is just around the corner, are you ready? Ok, it’s really not just around the corner. Actually, it's about 200 days away. Plenty of time to enjoy all that summer has to offer. Though it is never too early to get ready for next season all while enjoying the warm weather. When looking to be in shape for next season it's best to stay in shape throughout the summer. There are plenty of activities to keep you active and the following are just a few examples.
- Biking of any kind is a great way to work on your endurance, strength, and balance. Riding a road bike is certainty a great way to affect personal endurance and strength, mountain biking is great cross-training for skiing as well. While mountain biking you tend to work all the small muscle groups while moving through trails and around obstacles mimicking many of our movements and the need to focus attention.
- Yoga helps to build strength, increase stability, and improves flexibility.
- Hiking with its varied choices of terrain is a great way to work on increasing levels of workout while exploring new terrain.
- Paddleboarding is another great core workout generally offering great views.
Make the most of the summer, go to the beach, play golf, kayak, and just get outside. Every day of summer just gets up one step closer to winter. Winter is Coming.
If you live locally or coming back to visit us this summer we will be open for summer operations starting on June 17! You can enjoy the Adventure Zone, mountain biking, and Scenic Sunburst Six chairlift rides to the summit. Remember to bring your Epic Employee Pass to enjoy discounts and perks this summer.
During the off-season, there will always be a Skier Services team member available to answer your questions. Please send any questions or thoughts on winter to the inbox OkemoSkiSchoolStaff@vailresorts.com, which we will be monitoring all summer.

Chairlift Upgrades Begin
As soon as the lifts stopped spinning, the hardworking Mountain Ops team with the help of the chairlift experts from Leitner Poma dove into our big chairlift transition project to be completed this summer. Over the last few weeks, we have said goodbye to the Green Ridge Triple as it comes down the mountain piece-by-piece. Next, we are excited to see the Quantum Four high-speed bubble fill in where the Green Ridge left off and a six-person chair will go in at Jackson Gore. If you're curious to watch along throughout the exciting process, follow Okemo Mountain Resort's Facebook page where photo updates are added regularly.

Green Up Okemo
As part of our EpicPromise efforts, we participated in Green Up Okemo on Friday, May 7 to pick up any leftover litter from the winter. We had a team of over 50 people combing the trails and Mountain Road. In addition to our efforts on May 7, this year at Okemo, we have made huge improvements in our waste diversion with our FY21 rate at 54%.
In other good sustainability news, Tecnica is creating a long overdue "Recycle Your Boots" program to be debuted in the Alps. So save up your old boots to be recycled when they make their way to North America!
